VT AD now chiming in

How long until Duke chimes in to say they aren't going anywhere?

How long until Duke chimes in to say they aren't going anywhere?

Well, if you read some of the Buttgers posts on TOS, Duke is headed to the SEC.

Reading the comments sections of these various links, I'm pretty amazed at the instant insecurity of the fans of ACC schools. It's almost like being back in the Big East. And again, all it took was one completely uninformed BOT member and two leagues deciding to have their champions play in a bowl game in any year which their champions are not part of the 4 team playoff (anyone remember the last time the champions of both of these leagues were outside the Top 4 entering bowl season? Me neither). If their champions are in the top 4, then it's the Citrus Bowl.

Talk about what's wrong with college football... Exhibits A thru ZZ.

Just to let everyone know, i'm not going anywhere either. Even though in about 15 minutes, i will goto the gym, then home to eat dinner, eat, paint my bathroom, take a dump, read, and sleep. But seriously im not going anywhere.

That's quite a list...

BTW, you get to watch paint dry when you take a dump... not many people can multitask like that...;)

I literally had to read these posts twice, because I was sure I was not interpreting them correctly.

Says VT is not moving anywhere.

For what it's worth, UVA is saying the same thing.

What the hell does he know, does he have a blog? Welllll, does he?!?!

I highly doubt there will be any movement at all unless the Big 12 takes UL and someone like BYU that is not in a major conference already. The ACC is safe, and all this worrying people are doing could turn the situation into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I, for one, am not in a position to not at least listen to other offers.

honestly, i see no reason why vpi would leave the ACC.

i also see no reason why ncstate would either.

unc?? ha!!

maryland would be foolish to go to the b1g, and they know it.

miami would be shooting itself in the foot too.

fsu and clemson??? different story.

but if they decide to actually win championships and not collect a paycheck just few millions more, yet look foolish while doing so, so be it.

the ACC will always be a player.

glad SU is in it.

Didn't they also say the same thing in 2003 regarding the big east? I'm not saying any school is leaving but all it is is lip service and I'm sure VT won't be the first to leave but if FSU/Clem leave I'll bet they'll be gone before the ink is dry.

When I started laughing is whent the local NC sportscaster started talking about App State and how they want to move up. Just what the ACC needs, a fifth North Carolina team in the conference. Afterall they are the "Mountaineers".

So App State > ECU?
The Pirates must love to hear that.

Well, reports from a Charlotte radio station who had a reporter on that interviewed Clemson's AD advised that based on what the AD said and didn't stay, Clemson has one foot out the door. The Clemson AD refused to answer the question, "Do you have confidence that the ACC can remain viable as a football conference." He said, "No comment." ACC is in big trouble right now. Big 12 could literally take Miami, FSU, Clemson, GTech and VT in one fell swoop. Mark me down as worried.

I hope this is just a ploy to get ESPN back to the table but I doubt it.

VT isn't going anywhere for right now. Their AD is already in a shitstorm for the whole Seth Greenburg firing and hiring one of his staff to take the reins of the basketball team. He doesn't need anymore turmoil in his life right now after that and considering he as Parkinson's. The next AD would also set himself up pretty badly if he got hired by VT and made such a drastic change right away. I'd be more worried that UVA went to the Big 10 than VT making a move.

These changes are made at the President/BOT level. The AD really has little to do with it.

Doesn't change the fact that the average fan will blast him considering a vast majority of VT fans are people who never actually went to the school. VT doesn't need any more bad press and upsetting the fanbase/alumni. They aren;t going anywhere unless the ACC absolutely falls apart and then they are easily positioned to join another conference anyways.
