Syracuse-Virginia Tech games always seem to be crazy games,
They eventually showed a replay, so if you have the game recorded, you can see.still don’t know what happened on the 1st play of OT because the producers were equally clueless, putting up graphics while the game was going on.
Pro Tip: WAER radio does the games - also pre-game and a long post game. You can get the stream on line on most audio apps. I listen to it on the Audials app, but it's on others.I'm so sorry
He must have learned that from James Franklin at Penn State. With 3 TO’s and a kicker that has hit a 57yarder and playing in a Dome…
Then to call a QB draw on 2nd and goal from the 20….
We love you Brent Pry!
New Tradition: Game Thread Confessional where those feeling shame can confess and apologize for their sinsNever apologize for the game thread.
What happens in the game thread stays in the game thread.
It's for pure unadulterated venting.
Yeah this was a weird moment. He acted insulted media would ask about Marlow redshirting but it was a follow up of Fran suggesting Marlow taking a redshort was a topic of discussion internally. I was confused by that. This is SO true. He got a little nasty when he got questioned on Wax redshirting ...like it shouldn't have been brought up ... like literally after Fran brought it up.
Jim Boeheim should sit down with Fran and explain to him that winning does not give you license to get snarky with the media. If you want to keep winning, just be a good winner
On the blocked extra point, I'm pretty sure the announcer was wrong... The guy who blocked the kick was a lineman, and so he started in a stance and after the snap he just jumped clean through the A gap. It was weird... his blocker seemingly didn't know that the ball was snapped and never got his head up. He didn't actually hurdle anyone, which would be a penalty. The rule allows defenders lined up within a yard of the LOS to jump through the line (but not directly hurdle or jump on and push off a blocker). The rule applies more to players that are off the ball because they try to time up the snap, get a running start and hurdle the line.Stonehouse made a 2PT Conversion saving tackle on the blocked XP. I was surprised the runner just went out of bounds and didn't try to put a move on him - I mean he's a punter not a LB.
Is it true that when Antwaun Powell-Ryland jumped over SU's OL to block the XP, it should have been a penalty?
The ending is right up there with the McNabb to Borminski game. VaTech must really hate having to play in the dome.
We almost have a Big East schedule this year: VT, BC, Pitt, Miami; and you know what, I like it. Just missing Louisville.
Glad we're done with byes. This game was basically after a half bye since Pitt was on Thursday. The 1st half looked like the same disorganized offense from the Pitt game.
Anyone know many snaps Dave Wohlabaugh played? I noticed him in there when the offense started moving the ball in the second half.
Yep. I think that almost-intercepted throwback was my low point. An amazing character win.I’ve been to a ton of games at the dome, I don’t I recall ever feeling so out of a game as I did down 21-3 with our offense running Jameer Thomas on jet sweeps.
The offense was sputtering, the defense was tackling like a modified team and out beat weapons at that point was Stonehouse.
LQA is putting in a memorable season. Dont think anyone will question his toughness or leadership. Thought he was the only one playing at full speed all game long.
Fran was losing his mind on the sideline with the lack of tackling technique. Will be interesting to see what he does to address it.
Long talk after and a makeup call a minute laterRef instinctively called him for unsportsman like when he tried to give her the ball she didn't see it felt a bump and threw the flag.
It seems to me that rule of hurdling must have changed. I have seen it in pretty much every game we have played this year. It seems like as long as they are not lined up over the long snapper, than hurdling is legal again. On the blocked extra point, I'm pretty sure the announcer was wrong... Wohlabaugh was in at LT and Joe Cruz was in at LG for a series early in the 4th. I’d have to go back and watch but it seemed like they were controlling the LOSStonehouse made a 2PT Conversion saving tackle on the blocked XP. Same, it was pretty bad. I know I need to be a better fan, but this brought back memories of a rutgers game under gerg. I think we left at halftime. Only game I’ve ever left early. Almost did it again. Unsure why. It felt hopeless. The ’ng penalties are driving me crazy as are the special teams adventures.I’ve been to a ton of games at the dome, I don’t I recall ever feeling so out of a game as I did down 21-3 with our offense running Jameer Thomas on jet sweeps.

That play was set up for a huge gain. We had like 3 blockers over there and what looked like only 1 VPI defender. If we can somehow catch that, it could have gone the distance.Yep. I think that almost-intercepted throwback was my low point. An amazing character win.
Enough of this self deprecation. SU die hards have decades of scars to prove their mettle. How many other fans would stick by their team through the past 25 years?Same, it was pretty bad. I know I need to be a better fan
My apologies. Your posts were the first ones I saw so I guess I did throw you under the bus there. Good point. No worries. The game thread is just pure lunacy and I’ll leave it alone. Again no harm intended.Cool guy. You singled me out here out of all the other wild takes in the game thread. Where everyone vents when things aren’t going well. Pat yourself on the back you really got me.
For the record, I still think we should have hired a proven HC like Cignetti (who’s 9-0 now) or Chesney. Not exactly a controversial take around here. Going with Fran was absolutely a gamble that could very well pay off. But there have been a lot of undeniable coaching issues these last few games. Of course I’m happy we won today.

It’s possible, but it could quite have been intercepted for a touchdown the other way as well. That play was set up for a huge gain. We had like 3 blockers over there and what looked like only 1 VPI defender. If we can somehow catch that, it could have gone the distance.
People trashing the staff at HT made no sense. Why blame them for that the OL line was OK D good outside of 2 drives we weren't making huge special teams mistakes we were just getting a bad outing from QB and WR the supposed strength of the team.My apologies. Your posts were the first ones I saw so I guess I did throw you under the bus there. Good point. No worries. The game thread is just pure lunacy and I’ll leave it alone. Again no harm intended.
Conspiracy theory - re: drops - could it be how McCord was throwing the ball, OR if it was the ball?OG, Pena, and Kyle had BAD first halfs. And Gill and Hatcher were responsible for two PATHETIC turnovers. VPI played well and in general recruit better than us I saw the game last year at their place up close was like SEC vs AAC.
