Waiters & Fair Looked Like Freshmen Tonight

I just wish Fair would attack rebounds. He just doesn't seem to want them enough.

I thought Fair battled the entire game, but missed some good looks in his 10-12' sweet spot. JB obviously thought he brought more to the game because Christmas barely saw the floor.

Fair is always an unsung hero. As someone said, he had 9 boards tonight.

Scoop was awful as well. How does jb justify not putting triche back in the game?
Scoop may not have played great tonight, but he did his job and dished out 8 assists.

Fair on offense was awful, but he did OK on boards in the 2nd half. Waiters was pretty bad though, as was Scoop. We won this game with basically KJ+Melo. Triche sat for waaaay too long.

2 for 10 shooting, some matador defense.

Waiters was 3 for 12 including those God-awful 3s at the critical end of the game.

I love CJ's game, but he missed too many open looks. Thought he did an ok job on the boards in the second half, even though there were more rebounds to be had than the 9 he got.

Looking more and more like Waiters needs to come back.

I like the guy's game but twice he has the ball at the top of the key to win the game and could not beat his man.

I hope you are kidding. CJ was the only guy on our team rebounding in the first half. We were getting pummeled like 15 - 4 in rebounds and he had 3 of them. On one rebound he literally had a Hoya fully choking him around the neck. There was no call because, of course, basketball rules don't specifically say that choking is illegal.

He did pull down 9 rebounds and got the huge tip-in in OT, but all told he had a sub-par game. He was awful on offense all night and really seemed to be be sleepwalking the entire 1st half.
Simply, we need more from CJ and/or Dirty - and it really doesn't appear like it will be Dirty. CJ has gotta hit his open looks and go up stronger around the basket.

He is very good at the balls that enter his airspace. On the ones he has to move for he is a lot like KJ in that he doesn't exert the kind of energy required to secure some of them. You are certainly welcome to disagree. Just stating how I see it.

This is a good point and one that people are completely obtuse about.

If 20 rebounds come your way and you grab nine of them, how is that a good performance? I'm not saying that C.J. was bad tonight, but telling us how many rebounds he grabbed is in no way indicative of how he played.

100% agree. Georgetown had 20 offensive rebounds, we had 18 defensive rebounds. They murdered us on the glass, at least on the defensive end. When you let the other team get more than half of their misses, I dont' think you can say anyone did a good job rebounding.

this is so true, when he is missing those easy bunnies it kills us, because the other team doesn't have to guard him, when he is hitting those, like usual, it opens everything up, which he did against St Johns

perfect example of when the box score is misleading. nine rebounds only tells a very small story of how CJ played.

this was a game we needed james to step in for some minutes for CJ and he couldn't hack it

I feel like CJ is the only one of our guys who understands rebounding. Fab gets some because he is huge, but he doesnt have great rebounding instinct. CJ is slight of frame, but is a much better natural rebounder than KJo, James or anyone else we can throw out there. Our guards are clearly told to run out and never stay back and rebound...so...its gonna be Fab, Kris and CJ in any meaningful minute for the rest of the year.

Hi Houston,

I am definitely appreciative of CJ getting his 9 boards, but there were times when he did not go strong for a rebound and given our lack of rebounding prowess that lack of hustle in going for the rebounds stood out because he could have gotten more as already posted above.

CJ is usually money from mid-range so I'm not worried about him as he, at least, brought rebounding to tonight's effort. Dion, on the other hand, needs to step up as the 'best sixth man in the country' that a broadcaster touted. And James? Well ...

Someone needs to tell Dion he is allowed to use the glass on those drives in the lane. He wants to throw up a low percentage floater every single time. Use the glass, son! Its there for a reason.

It seems like right after dion had a few huge games and all the NBA talk that he thinks he's an NBA stud and makes bad fall always and lazy moves. When he was playing well he was driving hard to the basket and under control!

Exactly. Why do I feel like every other team hits those open free throw line jumpers with ease yet Fair bricks them more often than not. Otto Porter was automatic from there.
