DId anyone notice him today? Looked like he had a little argument with JB early in the 2nd half, moved to the end of the bench and never came back in. When the walk-ons went in and Tomazewski scored, the bench exploded, but Dion just sat there, chewing his gum. In the handshake line, he kept his head down the whole time. Maybe I'm looking too much into this, but I hope this isn't gonna be a continuing trend that occurs when Dion isn't the guy for that game.

Ticked me off that he sulked when Matt hit that three. Great teammate

I'll add something else I noticed. When Dion was yanked from the game, he took the empty seat near JB. He mouthed some words to JB and JB sent him packing and had him switch seats with BT. Maybe we'll learn more in the post-game but we don't need a re-emergence of last year's attitude issues.

Everyone else on this team has such a good attitude, hopefully this just was frustration on Dion's part and he's over it. We're gonna need him to get to where we want to go, he can't throw hissy-fits the second he is taken out.

He's obviously making a concerted effort to show the NBA scouts what a "coachable" player he is.

I just assumed he didn't play much in the 2nd half because he jammed his thumb last game and had it wrapped. I missed all the other stuff.

...thought JB was talking to him and he just moved away...JB thumbed Triche to take the seat the Waiters vacated....no room for Waiters to act this way...we dont need it...poor for chemistry

JB was definitely unhappy with Dion when he pulled him. They exchanged some words. Dion looked really pissed and then he moved to the end of the bench and stayed there. Anyone know why JB pulled him and what he was angry about? I didn't notice any glaring mistake by Dion.

He doesn't seem too upset based upon his tweet. Actually seems to be doing the opposite of what is reported here and is excited for his teammates:

Great win fellas... It was good to see my Lil bro mike out there hoopin.. Nd the whole team on to the next I'm happy for

I guarantee JB and him had a little meeting after the game.

Or he's tweeting like that cuz of a conversation he had postgame knowing this is what would be talked about. That cant be dions twitter anyways, there's no brag in there

Not one question about Dion from the keystone cops in the press? Morons.

That's also why boeheim got outta dodge so quick, you could see him thinking "holy crap am I really not going to get a dion altercation question"

Oy freaking vey with the conspiracy theories.

You do know that Dion had a hurt hand tonight, right? Maybe--just maybe--that had something to do with why he played so little. Especially since he's basically been our top player consistently for the entire year.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Lol. Someone missed the exchange during the game. Oy vey.

Okay, so you didn't see JB and him in a stern discussion...then Dion sitting in the empty seat near JB... and then Dion moving to a seat down to the other end of the bench. It's not a conspiracy theory. It's what happened. And regardless of whether he was taken out to rest, you don't think it would've been a good question to ask why he played for about 30 seconds in the 2nd half? ooooooooookay.

I think they were arguing over who was going to win the Giants/Jets game this Saturday.

During the telecast, I saw JB talk to him on the bench. It didn't seem heated to me at all. And I saw, after JB was done talking to him and moved on, that Waiters dropped an bomb. It didn't seem directed at JB, nor particularly demonstrative. So no--I don't think that was an issue / argument that precipitated Waiters being benched.

A much more plausible explanation is that Waiters might have an injured hand / arm--something you aren't apparently aware of. Oooookkkkkaaaaay. That, and the fact that we had around a 20 point lead for most of the contest, which didn't make it a problem to sit the best player. The dust up you describe seems overblown.

I didn't say that Dion wasn't hurt. I heard about it in the chat room ( I missed Tim Welsh talking about it.) I still don't think it would've been too much to ask about his lack of playing time and the reasoning behind it. Also, you are the only one I've seen who saw that "talk" between JB and Dion and didn't think it was tense at all.

Congrats to all the lip readers out there, then.

Agree to disagree. I've rewatched it on TiVo, and I assure you that it wasn't as animated of an exchange as you are making it out to be. Yes, Dion dropped an bomb after talking to coach. No, it wasn't directed at Boeheim.

And it apparently wasn't just me--the media didn't seem to think it was an issue, either--which explains why nobody brought it up.

Waiters wasn't 1o0%. We had control of the game. End of story.

They still make TiVo!?!?

okay, RF: fair enough. Still would've liked some clarity on how minor Dion's hand boo boo is. :)

Me too, Iommi! If it was "bad" [whatever that means], then that would explain it.

All I'm saying is that it didn't look as bad on TV until I read here that some perceived it as an altercation between Dion / JB--didn't seem that way to me.

LGO! And happy holidays, Iommi!

Dion (Waiters) didn't play in the second half -- was he injured?

“We wanted to get Michael some opportunities and he’s still trying to figure it out. He made a couple really good plays at the end so I’m glad we were able to leave him in there to get that experience. It was a 13-point game when he made a great drive and dish out to Scoop for a three – then he made four free throws and made good defensive plays. So, that was good for him.”
