Washington St / Holiday Bowl Week News and Videos

That's what the coach says. We'll see if it's true.

That number is highly dubious. Four other dudes have lined up their next school already and the OL has been flying around on visits to Michigan and the like. Was he squeezing those visits in between practices? Will the other guys' new schools really be down with them playing a bowl and potentially getting injured?

We'll see, I guess, but even if they got 100% buy in from the rest of the portal guys I would be very surprised if the real number wasn't closer to eight.

Agree. I think he is going with a philosophy of, unless they are practicing with another program already, there is a chance they will come around and play for us.

I think he has the expectation everyone who hasn't already commited to another program will eventually decide they are staying and play with us in this bowl game.

Where eventually = today.

Good luck with that. That said, I really hope most of their key players do play and make this a competitive game.

Washington State does not need a 50-0 drubbing in a bowl game on their resume. They have been dealt a number of bad hands and still need to find a new home.

A spanking behind the woodshed is the last thing they need now.

What is going on with the opt outs? They went from over 20 to now people are saying only 3?!
This game is going to be tough if they are missing only 3 players. Missing the QB is huge but apparently they are not depleted as originally thought.

I see the betting line is SU -17 to me that indicates a ton of Wash. St. players are out, ( BUT ) if this line starts to rapidly go down that will be a telltale sign more players will participate for Wash. St.

They lost 3 in a row with those players. And the coaching staff.

Without the staff and the QB, this game really shouldn't be close. We should be the Boca Raton Bowl USF to their Syracuse.

They back-stabbed the MW and swiped their best programs to repopulate the gutted PAC. They have a home, and for their antics the program could use a good arse-paddling.

While everyone is talking about going to 105 scholarship, WSU is taking about reducing their numbers from the 85 and cutting coaching $$’s do to cost and balancing the budge.

edit: I am thankful that we are not I that position.

I have not followed what happened after the Pac12 dissolved. If they did the MW wrong, that is not good.

I do feel sorry for the coaches, players and fans. The thing that makes it all the more painful is that I think the Pac12 and Washington State were both in great places when the music died.

It could have been us and some other ACC schools that got boned like this. And someday, this may indeed happen to some ACC schools.

I hope Washington State finds a good home and is able to establish rivalries and keep their athletic programs going.

Best of luck to them and Oregon State. And all the other schools that have been orphaned by the menace that is conference realigment.

I feel for their fans and players; but I have no sympathy for their administration. Just absolutely boned the Mountain West. I'm glad Memphis, USF and Tulane stuck with the AAC, though assume they're waiting for an ACC invite.

Well said. Really unfortunate to see so many institutions feeling like they need to act like cats in a bag. My fantasy is that football will break away and institutions can return to more logical, geographical associations.

The backup QB for Washington State was a three year starter who threw for 3000 yards last season before transferring to his new team.

That's very generous of you.

I hope we stomp them.

Yeah when the previous two starters are Ward and Mateer. You got to be prepared that this guy has something to prove. Winning football games is never easy.

I hope he's a dweeb and we plant him in the dirt.

FCS stats but yeah, can’t assume he sucks. You can assume he isn’t Mateer however and you can assume a team who lost to the likes of New Mexico and Wyoming to end the season aren’t that great even at full strength. Their staff has not gameplanned at the level they now have to, either. Anything can happen but we have zero excuse to not smack them around. We played a ton of close games this year and often made things difficult on ourselves so there is that
