We are up to No. 26 on ESPN FPI ranking.

These type of things matter. Remind people we still exist. Including our fans.
For when the polls drop, here is the link to see how the AP votes

You can do individual bias, and I took the time to go through each voter.

Per this site, Syracuse is the most biased against program by far. 6 voters under vote Syracuse so much, they qualified as biased against.

The cutoff is more than 5 places below actual ranking.

Hard to get vertical traction when a chunk of the voters are biased against your program to begin with.

Somebody needs to explain this,

On SRS here is the offensive ranking.

it's all schedule adjusted and our opponent gives up 65 a game.

i'm kidding - its stupid for them to publish rankings when almost every team has played 1 game - how do you adjust for opponents when your opponents have only played you?

WMU won this week. Purdue and Army lost. Purdue's playing VaTech next week. If VaTech beats them, which they should, Purdue is going to be frantically trying to avoid a 0-3 start.
"Don't believe the hype, play the game." Edelin Sr.
You can frantically avoid it all you want, doesn’t mean you’re not terrible.

Just win, baby.

Really interesting.

That score made a huge difference. It’s not easy scoring that much no matter who the opponent is and most of our roster saw the field.
I thought the shut out was important too. Not easy, teams usually manage at least a field goal. With the turnover on D that was nice to see. Confidence boost for all. Go CUSE

I think it's really important for the program to go 4-0 going into that Clemson game, get some national attention, and give Clemson a really close game (obviously I'd love to beat them). Getting that kind of positive national attention as often as possible matters a lot, imo, for future realignment prospects.

Clemson, @UNC, @FSU without byes is a brutal brutal stretch. If we can come out of that at 5-2 I'll be pretty thrilled, and we should have a great chance to finish in the top-25.

Seems like a flawed model then...weird that they would structure it that way
The score cap is not the reason for the low ranking.

The model reflects performance against opponent based on perceived strength of schedule, not execution. Points scored is the only thing taken into account, not wins/losses/other variables. For the sake of simplicity, all FCS teams are aggregated because they only play 1 or 2 FBS opponents a year. FCS teams often get beaten badly, which according to the modeling of SRS, makes them a below average opponent. The negative number on offense for Syracuse, then, reflects that it scored a ton of points against a bad opponent. (A 0 would mean an average win over an average opponent.) Syracuse is also the victim here of small base sizes, which are always going to plague an aggregate early in the data collection cycle.

The score cap is installed as a general rule so that a team that wins by 60-0 against one opponent and then loses by 10-7 in its other 11 games doesn't create a long-term bias in the model.

No model is perfect, and the creator of this model freely admits that, as anyone good at what they do would.

I'm no expert on this, I just read the explainer of how it's calculated yesterday.

Essentially, we're being punished for how bad Colgate is. That's why Notre Dame is down there too.
Based on what I saw on ESPN a today, we’re being punished for how LSU played. I heard a talking head bashing LSU because, “DBU’ is now taking transfers from Syracuse”

Which is ironic considering a few of our guys (Cisco, Trill, Iffy, Garrett, etc) made the NFL. Duce didn't have a good game but he's still a solid player.

I saw Kelly had one of his best DL drop into coverage 20 times and rush the passer just a few times? Maybe put your players in a position to succeed.

They said nothing about FSU having to take players from Albany. Whatever fits the narrative I guess, but we still have a lot of ground to make up in terms of perception
