We are undefeated, #1 in the country and are having one of those seasons that give me a hard on and we are talking about recruiting a PG for next year????
Oy.
Auntie Em!OMG!!!!! The sky is falling!!!!!
Honestly, MCW is a way bigger candidate to leave early than Waiters. Much, much better body for the NBA and a more developed game as a Freshman.
Agreed - at this time...
I don't agree Dion is by far a better NBA prospect than Jonny ever was/is! Dion is bigger stronger and finishes over size better! College number don't translate to the NBA in a one to one matter. No one is acting like that - you are making this up. And you are right that Flynn's decision was easier than DG's or Dion's. But it doesnt change the fact that flynn was a more obvious NBA prospect and has flopped. Dion should learn from this.
Given that Dion is infinitely better than Triche, I suspect that JB is starting Dion in order to keep him for another yr.
He'd be foolish to pass up millions. He's gone. His j is fine and he can
Work on it in the summer league, practice and 82 games a year.
If Kentucky was in the big east there would have 7-8 loses a year! Plus the guy that go to Kentucky will continue to go to Kentucky!Kentucky just does fine with 4 or 5 freshmen starters every year. It's all how well you can recruit. Any PG ranked in top 10 will usually be a one year guy anyway and you have to start him freshmen year.
If Dion does leave it gives us an opportunity to get the top ranked PG in the nation with the offer of a starting spot (something we RARELY have, JB always starts upperclassmen at guard spots when he has them).
How was his jumper in the 8th grade? Most guys in the NBA are not "knock down shooters" his overall game is NBA ready!Don't know why you think his jumper is fine - he is shooting 32.4% this season behind the college line. In BEC play last season, he was something like 28%, in HS he was mediocre. And he has been working on his jumper most of his life.
I'm very happy that he is above 30% this season. He needs to reduce his 3pt attempts to shots where he is open and prepared to shoot.
Like Dajuan Coleman? If Kentucky was in the big east there would have 7-8 loses a year! Plus the guy that go to Kentucky will continue to go to Kentucky!
DC2 is from the cuse and is not a guard. If I were an elite big I wouldn't go to Kentucky either (you would see the ball) I'm not saying we cant beat them for a recruit but we can't be in a position where we are 'ed if we lose out on that elite recruit!Like Dajuan Coleman?
We haven't been losing out on the recruits we've keyed in on lately. That's one of the primary reasons why we're currently the deepest (and most talented) teams in the country...and let's not forget ranked #1!

I am 100% sure of it too! But I would prefer an elite guard in 2012. Regarding my comment I WOULDN'T GO TO KENTUCKY IF I WERE AN ELITE BIG. They do get great bigs to go to Kentucky but it is not an offense that features the bigs as well has ours typically does. You lost me there. You also lost Anthony Davis, Demarcus Cousins and Daniel Orton with that comment too.
JB and staff will recruit and land an elite (point/combo) guard for the 2013 class, that I am sure of.
I think you are missing the main problem: there are no elite guards remaining for the class of 2012. Anyone that we bring in with the current class would just be a "filler". We've had a few of those guys in the past and they didn't work out too well (See Michael Edwards, David Patrick, etc).I am 100% sure of it too! But I would prefer an elite guard in 2012. Do you honestly think Dion is the "6th Best" player on this team (which is what the typical 6th man is)?I love Dion, but he is our 6th man. How is this conversation even relevant? Unless we make it to the Final Four because of him, he will be the nation's best 6th man (see Scoop and KJo). Beyond that, he can work to be a Kemba Walker-type next year and make millions as a lottery pick.

I didn't say that. But who was the last non-starting lottery pick?

Wow I am surprised so many are panning Dion's NBA chances. If he continues to play at this level, there is a 10% of him coming back to Cuse. He is a far better player than Jonny Flynn ever dreamed of being right now. What did Flynn have that Dion doesn't? Dion is bigger, stronger, maybe not as as quick, but very quick with the ball, has a reasonable jumper, can finish like a freight train, and has a desire to dominate opponents. The guy can get to the rack at will and also is developing a nice vision ability/willingness to deliver the ball. I don't see these glaring weaknesses, you guys are acting like he is a mediocre player.
Face it, he is gone after this year. Not only is he just as ready as Wes and Jonny were (or more), he also has no love for JB, will be without Scoop at SU next year, and is exactly the kind of guy who has his eye on the prize as far as the NBA draft.
