Week 13 Uniform for BC

AD John Wildhack wrote back to me!
I sent him an email Saturday that complained about the lack of orange.
He responded on Sunday and said that our hands are tied until 2019, since the Nike contract covers next season.
I appreciate his response. He seems to sympathize. Let's go Orange!

This entire thread has me feeling an even deeper shade of blue then I felt walking out of the Dome after Saturday's fiasco.

Why are our hands tied in regards to wearing more orange? I get that we have to gut out these dumb unis another season, but we don't HAVE to wear those all blue abominations, do we? DO WE?! ;)
Nike says, RELAX ;)

Take away the font, and you’ll notice the majority of schools all wear the same jersey. Pay close attention to the details around the collar. WF has a different, but similar style shoulder pad design.

If we had plain numerals, and the classic player number on the side of the shoulder pad, I bet there would be less complaints.

Virginia’s uniforms the last few weeks have been beautiful. We could do the same. If you aren’t against a logo on the helmet, with an s on one side, and the number on the other like old times. But jersey and font were classy.

Not sure I understand (or believe) why their hands are tied. So Nike has the contract, don’t we say this is what we want/like? It’s bizaare if we don’t have a say in the look/color scheme/design.

#BlueUniformsMatter

I wish Nike would just tune into a Clemson game to see what teams in Orange should look like. It's not that difficult. Gosh we've had some awful uniforms in the last 10 - 15 years.

Exactly, Pitt's all blues looked sharp, then again, they are supposed to be blue as panthers. Its all about font and piping. The UVA unis are beautiful, big, bold numerics. Another weird thing is our orange is getting darker and darker for some reason.

The last 4 for sure

I was not on this site at the time, what was the board reaction to the Robinson era unis that featured the numbers on the helmets? I imagine it was horrible, but would probably take it today?

And I do recall a few not liking the Nassib era, but c’mon they’re pretty nice looking back.

I liked the Marrone uniforms.

Everyone hates the Robinson era ones, but I think they look great. I guess because they're associated with losing, people can't appreciate the aesthetic?

Nassib jerseys were fine. Little too simple (and too much grey) for my taste, but they're a lot better than the current ones.

Big problem now is these goofy off-brand color combos. And I believe Wildhack is being disingenuous when he blames Nike - don't the players choose the uniforms each week? I've never seen the contract, but I find it hard to believe that it stipulates that SU go all-blue every so often. The weird-looking uniforms would be a lot more tolerable if the team stuck to its traditional brand (orange/blue/orange at home, orange/white/orange away) for 9 or 10 games and then let the kids go wild with one of those dumb-ass grab-bag looks for a game or two.

I remember Jake and Paul being 100% opposed to orange jerseys for years. It took a bunch of players rallying Jim Brown to support their cause to get orange home jerseys as a one-off. That seemed extreme at the time, but it might beat the inmates running the asylum situation of today. Kids are in charge of playing football. School is in charge of brand management. Seems a more reasonable arrangement.

My standards are not high. Just wear something that rallies us together by reminding us that we're the Syracuse Orangemen.
Late Ben era / Mac era / P era / Doug era uniforms are fine
Maloney era / Shafer era / Current era uniforms are not OK
GRob era uniform changes were a mixed bag

We complain for the most part. Are we the minority in hating most of these combos? I here people say the kids love them? What kids? the locals? the players? the recruits?

I talked with kids on our HS team and they by far hated them so its not just an age thing. Is it a city vs suburb thing? A north vs South thing? Old school vs new School?

Honestly I hear it all the time from Non football people who do at least follow the results if not watch the games and no one says they look good and the majority say they look bad..

Has the school done a survey? gone to destiny, gone around syracuse? Gone around the campus? Isnt this the type of things that classes do as projects at College? Dont we have a marketing degree that this would be a great relevant thing to work on?

It ain't rocket surgery:

Orange as the predominant color.

Legible numbers.

No grey anywhere. Not a hint, touch or accent. Zero, zip, zilch, nada.

Orangemen.

Unretire 44.

AC in a refurbished, resplendent, state of the art Dome.

No jingling keys on third down like a bunch of pu**ies.

No Tampa 2.

No shirt, no shoes, no dice.

I sure remember people hating these though. EVERYONE will never be happy.

WE need a Tennessee fandom like reaction to our AD when the uniforms don't change next year. I guarantee Nike would do something if we went nuclear like their fan base with Schiano.

The fact we are contractually obligated to wear terrible uniforms tells me everything about how inept Gross was as an AD.

I'm so jealous of you.

I liked the #'s on the helmets. That was about it.

I really liked the 2012 uniforms, as did pretty much everyone I think. Took awhile, but they got there. Then they ripped it apart.
