They could lose 200-0 and it shouldn’t matter. It’s absolutely absurd one team that isn’t playing should jump a team that is playing.

I agree in theory. Bama fell all of 6 spots when they got thumped by Oklahoma. SMU should fall less than that if they get thumped by Clemson. Which means they should get the last at large spot.

But SMU also has no truly impressive wins on their schedule either. They beat a lot of good teams, but no one particularly great. They need this game. And their vomiting all over themselves.

Ultimately I’d much rather be arguing about who the 12th team should be than the 4th or 2nd. We’re making progress.

Penn State and Indiana have beaton no one. SMU would get smoked by Miami. Miami would beat both teams in the SEC Championship too. Alabama has two horrible losses. SU has better wins than most of these teams. This committee is on drugs.
