Week 5 Depth Chart / Injury Updates for Holy Cross

He left the game in the second half. Looked like he got his bell run (in old man terms) and I believe both he and the WMU WR went out of the game. Someone asked a question in the press conference yesterday that was hard to hear but sounded like they asked if his career might be over. Then in Bailey's column this morning at syracuse.com he wrote:

"Antwan Cordy and the cast of fill-ins fare well
If Antwan Cordy's career at SU is over following a glancing helmet-to-helmet blow with Bellamy in the third quarter, he went out on a high note."
I don't think I have ever seen a player in a Syracuse uniform use their body as recklessly and consistently as Antwan does. He just throws his body at people, often in violent fashion.

This is a guy whose heart is far bigger than his body. I so wished a season of good health for him this year. All that training and prep work, year after year, and it seems like he never gets rewarded for it.

Much respect Antwan. You are a warrior. I hope you are able to return to the playing field soon.

Ugh, that'd suck. I've been critical of Cordy's style of play but he's had a history of struggling after injuries and that'd be too bad for him.

And for whatever it's worth, he had a great textbook form tackle on 2nd down early in the game on Saturday.

Watched a replay last night and he was all over the field - and usually in a good way.

Cordy had a beastly, spearing tackle during the WMU game on one of their ball carriers. Met him in one of the gaps, picked him up and speared him dead in his tracks. Kid was fearless, that's for sure.

Another player that comes to mind was Shamarko Thomas. Dude was constantly laying hammers on people, but often times unfortunately knocking himself into space while doing so.

Both guys played their hearts out. Hopefully this isn't it for Antwan. Best of luck to him whatever happens.

Yeah, I actually thought he had a nice game. Football's a pretty cruel sport, hope the kid can keep his head up after this.

With all of Shamarko's concussions he was so lucky to get drafted by the Steelers. His whole senior year, every game I worried if he was going to have one final one that would potentially prevent him from getting into the NFL. Wasn't there a game at the end of the season though where he hit someone pretty hard, stood up clearly dazed and stumbling around?

He was an absolute beast. We've had some really fun D players to watch even during all the turbulence.

Pitt?

Damn. Maybe concussion?

The play happened right in front of me. He made that big hit, went to get up and then seemed like he grabbed at his collarbone/shoulder. He didn’t seem “dinged”? He was certainly holding that area and seemingly walked off on his own.

I think you see them save him for the final 3 regular season games + bowl and then redshirt

I think the better approach, if he was to go that route, is play last 4 and then sit out bowl game. But i wouldnt do that either.

I thought he had a really good game, felt like he was always making some plays.
Yeah I did too and I ain’t his biggest fan. His coverage in tight man has improved.

Nah the conventional wisdom from the brain trust is he sucks

Someone already referenced Shamarko who I think was identical. Undersized missile just running into much larger guys with no regard to their own body. Reminds me of one of my favorite defensive players ever... Bob Sanders. Dude was mighty mouse but constantly hurt himself on tackles.
