GMac’s son appears to be taller than his parents.

actually 4,000 were there, maybe more from everything that's been put out there by the dome and SU folks. As JB said pretty amazing is right.

The question I have is has anything like this ever happened anywhere else? An introduction and presser with that many excitable fans?
It MuSt Be that cRaPpY and nEgAtIvE CnY aTtITuDe some of the out of towners blow out their @$$#$ about on this board. Seems like the Syracuse area fans showed for the event! 4k for special workday event, lots of positive energy. Good stuff.

Combine the NBA experience citing with his answer when asked about Brian Beaury and the value of having someone in the program with head coaching experience so don’t be surprised to see that here and things are starting to crystallize a bit.

In an article he said he wouldn’t be coming with coach

I will respond because I think this is a good point. The team we assembled was a team that could go to the tournament with a good coach, no doubt in my mind. Also, we have way more total money package, and we should be using that package to bring in the best players we can. With the new reported funds, there is more than enough to have upgrades over last year's talents. If we can bring in better more talented players than the ones we have because of the increase in funds then we should do that.

We shouldn't "settle" for players because they were on the team last year under last year's fiscal constraints.

Fair. I just didn't get the sense from a lot of the posts that it was that thought out. Was just more like "get rid of him, he sucks" kinda thing. In not so many words.

Gerry will have insider access to these guys that no other coach would have. Kinda curious what happens. Just hope we don't overpay for anyone (old or new) only for the sake of spending all the money. Save some for future years if you know you aren't winning the bidding war with certain guys.

Don’t know if it was mentioned but I’m behind anybody that uses a “Stepbrothers” reference . ……………………….It was hot , overcrowded, and no place to sit , but I’m glad I went , it picked me up somehow !’

You left out AO big reason for development of big men. Very important

You know who has NBA experience and some think he would make an excellent GM? Someone who turned down the HC job at Siena yesterday. Do we think it might be Mike Hopkins?

Hop as GM, assuming that he and Gerry are fully on board that would be something special given his chops with recruiting and the money factor. That would be a very unique combination for sure.

This fanbase is like a nuclear reactor. It took a lot of things to go wrong for it it build up, but it is just begging to explode with a relevant Cuse team. Money is money and the main deciding factor, but show any prospective player this event on how you can become immortalized in Central/Upsate/North Country if you win. You do not have to play a minute of pro ball, if your playing career ends with Cuse but results in you winning you will be a folk hero the rest of your life. If this team even tastes a modicum of relevancy at the start of next season with early results the dome is going to be packed.

Ok maybe I'm dense, but has the whole press conference been posted yet? I wasn't able watch live and want desperately to watch but only seeing clips.

That is what I assumed when the reports came out that he turned it down. I thought he was probably going to be our GM.
