If we had beaten Rutgers and finished at 6-1 instead of 5-2.

Like I said in another thread. We are a lineman slipping away from a BCS bowl and sole BE champ.

I wish we were playing at Rutgers this Thursday night. We'd win by 20.

We might also be a dropped interception away or ...

We also could have easily lost the usf game

And lemon could have dropped the 4th and 10 pass from Nassib vs Mizzou

You cant play these we "should" be. Some things break your way, some dont, you are what your record says you are.

there was a penalty on that play so we had 1st anyways :)

I'm also 6 inches away from being in porn films.

I get it but the fact is that we also are a couple of plays (USF, Mizzou) from being 6-6 or 5-7.

It goes both ways too.
I'm amazed we keep forgetting how close we were to losing Pitt.

making simple plays is something you want to count on.. losing on fluky plays is when it hurts.

LOL - amazing.

A record of 7-5 is precisely indicative of what we are - a slightly above average football team. And that's outstanding considering where we were a few years ago.

If we were 8-4, 5-2 and all we needed was UL to beat RU, I believe we would get the votes from the pollsters and would eek it out, but 7-5 will be tough. Oh well though FSU would out-talent us IMO. I would just a good BCS school matchup in a bowl.

That didn't stop JoeCollege. There's a market out there for everything.

I expect he'll respond with something about my mom here shortly.

I just remeasured. Its actually 5 and a half.

Woulda coulda shoulda - sometimes things happen for a reason - sometimes I think that if we had gone 10-2 or better, Marrone would have been given bigger & better offers. In going 7-5 plus 25-25 (assuming he wins the bowl game) still gives him plenty of incentive to stay and finish the rebuilding program. Plus his kids are young so we probably get another 5 years out of Coach. Maybe at 10-2, 11-1 or 12-0 Tenessee comes knocking but not at 7-5.

Don't get me wrong, I would have loved going undefeated any day, but even being undefeated we would not even be considered for the NC game. Being in the ACC and going undefeated - different story.

I'm not amazed. This place has a knack for thinking every close win was destined to be our's, and every close loss was another case of SU being cursed. :)

Could one play really have changed things? I wonder how the NCAA season for everyone would have turned out if you let them change just one play for the entire season, let alone one play per game.

Only rule is that it must be realistic, so you can't say "change that FG into a blocked FG that is returned for a TD"

Looking at the current top 10:
1. ND - Obviously sees no need (yet?) to change anything
2. Bama - Change the 4th down interception in the end zone into a TD, or alternatively, the bomb where the dude was tackled at the 5 to a TD
3. Georgia - One play would not have done squat against South Carolina, which beat them handily
4. Florida - (Pending outcome of FSU game) Suppose they don't fumble into the endzone with 2 minutes left. A TD and 2 point conversion might send game into OT
5. Oregon - If Stanford receiver is ruled out of bounds on TD catch, they are currently unebeaten
6. K State - Nothing would have helped against Baylor
7. LSU - A big play on Bama's final TD drive and they are likely in the SEC title game
8. Stanford - Overturn the non-TD call on 4th down in OT, and they go to Double OT
9. Tex A&M - Lost to UF by 3 and LSU by 5; Didn't see either game
10. FSU - (Pending outcome of UF game) If 4th down TD by NC State is incomplete, they are in title hunt

So, obviously there's some double counting here (GA vs. Florida, A&M vs. UF or LSU, etc...), but 7 of the top 10 teams could reasonably claim that their season went adrift by one stinkin play.

in score yes, but we also never trailed. we went in 1-3, shut down the running game, pughs first game back. and really the last time didnt move the ball for most of the game. they didnt give it away
