We're only 5 mins into 1st EX game, and I already love Carlos

He’s a dude, the naysayers are already wrong, as predicted when he signed.

Yup. People were concerned with his height. Watching him live, his height doesn't even come into play. At least against a D2 school. Such a different look vs watching guys like Mintz and Copeland.

Plus, and I think this is a big plus, is that it makes JJ a much better player. JJ played like an upperclassmen on a mission.

Things I did not know about Jaquan...we do have a true point who can get anyone the ball- this will make a BIG difference in our season this year IMO.

Junior Year at Hofstra:

Carlos was named to the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) All-Defensive Team for the second consecutive year ... He was third in the CAA in steals average with 1.6 per game ... Carlos was first in the CAA and 12th in the nation with 6.4 assists per game ... He was in the starting lineup for all 33 of the Pride’s contests ... He had 10 points and eight assists in the season opener against ST. JOSEPH’S ... Carlos contributed 11 points, nine assists and four rebounds versus PRINCETON ... He tallied 15 points, five rebounds and five assists versus WRIGHT STATE ... He added 18 points, eight assists and seven boards against HIGH POINT ... Carlos had three-straight 11-point-outings against SOUTH FLORIDA, IONA, and SAINT LOUIS. He added 10 assists versus the BULLS for his first double-double of the campaign ... He produced 10 points and nine assists at DUKE

Kid had 14, 10 dimes, 3 steals and ZERO turnovers.

The level of comp is irrelevant.
He found his spots, but more importantly,
he found his teammates in their spots.

And he’s not a matador on D.

Given that he and JJ are both likely to play 30+ minutes a night, having a kid who is efficient on O, and not a sieve on D, is such a massive upgrade for this team.

I had high hopes for Carlos coming into the season but he’s already exceeding them. Can’t wait to see how he does against better competition. But I think we’re going to be very happy with him. Hopefully Chance can be the backup PG as his gets his seas legs back and gains confidence from his injuries.

I couldn't watch the game last night, but I like what people are saying. Still, my optimism will be cautious until I see him against better competition. Things change when playing against bigger, faster, more agile players. I believe some people have said he looked good against Duke last year, so that bodes well.

He went for 10 points and 9 assists against Duke, with 3 turnovers.

It looks like a pretty good game, but Hofstra lost in a blowout, so it's hard to get a read on how meaningful the stats were.

Roach went for 19 and 8 without a turnover, so in as much as that was a head to head contest, Roach performed better.

It's great that Carlos dominated a D2 program yesterday, but we would be appalled if he didn't.

There’s things you can see outside of the box score and the fact we played a D2 program that will carry over against better teams.

It was a 10 pt game until 8 mins to go so not really a blowout . Duke went on a quick 10-0 run and then held that margin.
