What is better?

Having a bunch of decent players with a ton of depth or having mediocre players, no depth, and some playmakers sprinkled in?

Marrone's teams played a lot better with the latter.

Im honestly waiting for the uptick in Recruiting to truly be evident. I think its very hard to argue that these classes have more playmakers then Grobs.

I don't think that many would or could argue that Marrone has, to this point, brought in more playmakers than GROB. I think the contention is that Marrone has been able to bring in more top notch DI athletes to fill out a roster, rather than having 20 or more athletes that would not play at any other DI school.

At least with this team, we move the ball and get first downs. GRob teams were predictable and pathetic. There was no hope. This team at least has some playmakers and with some better play calling and some better execution, we could be 3-1 and the board would be calling for an extension. I still believe we can right the ship and go 5-2 in the Big East. And Mizzou got creamed at S. Carolina last week so not sure how great they are. And after their schedule, they may just be looking to play out the string when we get there. I'm not off the bandwagon yet.

Alot of Marrone's playmakers haven't had the chance to play yet for various reasons. Somewhat of an impartial argument, don't you think?

I'm excited about Funderburke, Reymon and Williams. Plus next years recruits. We got spoiled with that bowl game. It really elevated expectations which has resulted in disappointment. If we won 4-5 games that year, we'd be thinking we were still on the slow and steady ascent. But that is sports in today's world.

I will take mediocre talent with a few playmakers. Depth is great, but if you have playmakers they can make the difference.

The last 3 recruiting classes haven't been that good. The first one under Marrone wasn't his fault as he inherited and kept most of GRob's class. However since then I have not been impressed, I like Reddish, Broyld, West, and Sprull, but Marrone hasn't shown he can recruit that well, and everyone wants to point Allen in this class. I like Allen, but if the recruiting services don't have him as a 4 star recruit then I don't see him as a can't miss prospect. He can and hopefully will be great, but I am not going to put a lot of pressure on him without his recruiting ranking being higher.

If we had won 4-5 games in 2010 the support Marrone has would be a LOT less. It's the fact that he gutted out an 8 win season that gives me at least some hope for the future. Absent that...
