What people calling for Carney are really saying

thank you for putting into way too many words all the things none of us were thinking

Everyone said Justin Lamson was good and he transferred to Stanford and he started one game then transferred to Montana State. You just never know.

1) When people say that it can’t get any worse… nonsense, it can ALWAYS get worse. It’s entirely possible that Carney is completely incapable of running an offense against a P4 defense.

2) When people say that if you bench Collins then you can’t bring him back to play… nonsense, this sort of thing happens all the time. Sometimes it’s actually helpful for a guy to sit and watch and relax. That approach worked with Troy Nunes.

3) I’m really not sure it matters all that much in the grand scheme of this season. We likely have 2 winnable games left on the schedule, and we’ll win them with defense and a running game regardless of who’s under center.

Funny you should mention Nunes. I kept thinking that if we play Carney, it will feel like Nunes vs RJ all over again. The quicker smaller guy with the weaker arm** vs the slower bigger guy with the stronger arm.

** I don't know anything about Carney's arm strength yet.

I would like to see Carney. But yesterday wasn’t the time nor place. And it does not necessarily need to be a wholesale switch.
Thinking realistically if they hadn't bought in Steve we would be 1-5 and in ESPN's bottom 10. That's how bad Rickie has been.

I think the biggest tell is the body language of the players. Obvious conclusion is they see this all the time and insist on going this route. At least with Carney he has the threat of using bis legs. That in itself should be enough to at least try and make a change.
