When do I allow myself to get excited?

For me it will be when we beat Maryland. A 3-0 start hasn't happened in a very long time. And I don't see us completely falling apart after that happens.

Agree 3-0 would be nice. Then just don't lay an egg versus ND. Issue is a 3-0 start would bring some interest for the ND game at least locally. Lose 49-10 to ND, well curmudgeons return to their weasel holes for another year because the schedule doesn't get any easier

ND is coming off a poor performance against Purdue and is heading into a bye week. Kelly will be on the team hard and I think, much like us over Nova - they'll be ready to play. our team can't look past Maryland, but ND will be as big a challenge as we've had in recent years.

Personally, I almost think this Maryland game is bigger then the ND game. ND is expected to beat us, but how many times have we lost games that we are expected to win/ should win? We need to take that next step of beating the teams we are supposed to beat on a regular basis before we can become a top 25 team. That ND game becomes a lot less important or significant if we lose a game that is and should be a win. Therefore I say this weeks game is more important to me. Going into ND 3-0 would be a huge step in the right direction for SU, and then anything can happen on a Saturday night. Those are the games kids get up for, they don't need any extra motivation for those games; They will be fired up and ready.

I am excited about the direction the program is headed. Thanks to the coach whose name should never be uttered by any SU fan my excitement for football season turned to dread its nice to look forward to saturdays again!
