Name programs recover from bad stretches. Flashes in the pan disappear. We will be fine
In BBall IMO it is all about getting the right HC than the actual name on the jersey. That is why Baylor, Tennessee, UVA, Auburn, Houston can have success. Outside of maybe 5-6 programs who will pay a crazy salary, a HC has no reason to leave if they are having success already at a non name school.
Some recent name team droughts:
UConn had an 11 year stretch before last season with only 1 S16.
Nova is in the start of a down stretch. Will they be able to get it right without Wright?
UCLA has one FF in that last 15 years.
What will happen to Gonzaga after Few? Michigan State after Izzo?
Is Oklahoma a name team? No S16s in the last 8 years. Wisconsin? No S16s since 2017 their HC's 2nd year. Same for Florida, it has been since 2017 and only one in the last 9, not including this season. Louisville no S16 since 2015 and are a complete mess right now. Ohio State since 2013. Georgetown is another mess and no S16s since 2007. Texas has had one S16 since 2008.
If any of the above schools get their HC hires right they will bounce back, but they won't bounce back because of their name.
Edit
Totally forgot about Indiana too. They have only 4 S16s since 1994, and one FF since 1992. Also no E8s since 1993 besides that one FF run. That is 30 years and they still haven't gotten it right.
