I won't try explaining myself. There's no winning when you're backed up against the whole forum. I'll take the criticism and the "dumb post of the year" bs.

Everyone has their bad posts. I'll admit this was not one of my finer.
You're fine, bro. We've all had our moments, and you bring some great energy to this place. Don't sweat nothing.

His defense is fine and he is faaar more athletic than given credit for. With Cooney it all starts with confidence.

Well, let's be honest here. I'm (happily) eating some crow as far as Cooney's shooting. His limited minutes last year (and year of rust on RS) didn't help his confidence. And I was beginning to think that 26% was going to stick.

Fortunately, he's lighting it up, at least lately. And we need his perimeter offense ... no doubt.

However, for most of the game, Cooney got schooled by Cal's guards. They walked by him at will and got into the lane. That has to change. I can forgive him some stupid TO's as he gets used to his expanded role, but getting smoked on D like that spells trouble.

dude, we have officially seen the 8 man rotation. I hate to say it, but Buss and BJ aren't on there this year. and neither is Roberson.
Dude, I was talking about next year at the earliest. Regardless, just forget it.

Nothing happened

You're all just seeing things.

You should see someone.

Cooney is and will be one of the team leaders in steals this year.

Many of the drives you're referring to were from the 45 splitting the seams between the guard and the forwards. His defense is far down the list of concerns for this year's team.

Cooney is the 2nd leading scorer on the team averaging 14.8 points per game. (wasn't there a crazy thread on over/under 8 points a game?) He's 2nd on the team for steals trailing Tyler Ennis by one. He's shooting 49% from 3 and 85% from the free throw line. He's has 8 turnovers this 6 game season , the same as Tyler Ennis and way behind our best player CJ who has 24. Cooney also has 12 assists this season, 2nd to Ennis and a positive assist to turnover %.
I remember that one. I went with 12 ppg. Looks a little low now!

We weren't very athletic in 2003, but we had a great shooter, glue guy, and a slow methodical point guard who wasn't flashy. Those 3 guys did pretty well in the tournament, matter of fact the second game when Melo was on the bench, and down 18. Billy, Gmac took over that game and allowed us to advance, the big play Gerry bleeding, and Billy finds him for a 3 before he had to go to bench. The glue guy Kueth a senior gave up minutes to Billy to make it a better team.

No. They (cal guards) walked by him right down the middle and got in the lane at will. That has to change for us to be successful against the better teams. The good news is, although he went 1-5 last night, his D was better.

I was also impressed with his decision making, back-door cuts and handling. He's becoming a more complete player with more PT and is starting to build chemistry with TE. Lots to be encouraged about.
