Which Syracuse logo is your favorite?

My favorite wasn't pictured...

A tie between the 88 to 98 one and the one not pictured that we had in 03.

There is no way that Native American one was the logo until 1988??! I don’t believe that is close to accurate.

The best one was the Wallace to Carmelo era one that they inexplicably left out.

Shoddy work here by Fox College Hoops Twitter account.

The block S is a solid 7.5/10. Nothing wrong with it, looks fine. Nothing special about it though.

1967-88. It was the time that we built the foundation of the Big East and the golden age of Syracuse basketball. Very nostalgic

1978

In 1978, the Saltine Warrior was banned by the university as part of the national movement to eliminate Native American motifs, becoming one of the first colleges to do so. The mascot briefly morphed into a Roman warrior, but was eventually replaced unofficially in 1982 by a giant, cartoon-style Orange.

The block S is my favorite. I don’t remember us ever using the Saltine Warrior one they picked. Seems far fetched imo

I made fun of RutgersAl going ape over a block R in a YouTube video, so now I can never hype up our block S.

If you’re going with a singular letter, do something cool with it like the Detroit Tigers. Give it a little flair.

I say we should switch to a script Syracuse, change our b-ball jerseys to it permanently, and be done with it.

My favorite Syracuse logo is another that wasn’t pictured.

I thought the same thing. I was a freshman in 1987 and don't remember seeing that logo anywhere other than on old t-shirts.

I saw this on social this week. It is so terribly incomplete that I cannot give it any thought. Nothing listed there is Basketball specific, more like athletics altogether. The ball with s logo would win all day long, as would the script logo which was primarily basketball for the longest time. The interlocking SU (think McNabb era) that lasted up to the good Dr.s "GROSS" interlocking logo is also one of my favorites.

This is always a fun topic, but the tweet that kicked it off is really wrong.

The SU seal was the defacto athletics logo for at least a decade prior to the Corporate S being unveiled. Just look at the '87 final four. They used the seal.

Obviously, the elongated S hoops logo was used from the mid-90s to early 2000s.

I always felt like that one should have been morphed into the SU athletics logo. We could have replaced the basketball with an orange circle and let it be used for all sports. That's still my favorite.

However, if Gross only did one good thing, it's that he reinstated the block S. It's not sexy, but it works. That it replaced the ghastly interlocking SU is all the better. What a freakin' monstrosity that thing was, and the hoops unis it adorned were just as awful.
