JB? Wildhack? The BOT? We all saw this coming with JB. Anyone surprised was either not seasoned in the real world or too deep in the orange bunker. Add in ego and stubbornness, this was always how the game ended for JB. For me it's our AD. He came on board knowing this elephant was in the room. The plan thus far of doing nothing infuriates me as a fan and alum. Take the program back.

I am certainly disappointed and dissatisfied. I try to reserve anger and outrage for actual injustices and problems with significant consequences.

It all starts with JB. Look at how Roy and Coach K handled it. Even Jay Wright. Cooley just came out and said he’d never coach past 70.

JB built up a lot of good will here (deservedly so). But his lack of self awareness and unwillingness to walk away on his own accord years ago put everyone in a terrible spot. Now it’s up to the BOT and AD to do the nearly impossible, all because JB can’t see it on his own (and he should have years ago)

This is like 90% JBs fault.

Yeah, this is kind of a perfect storm. Agree on the anger versus sadness/disappointment.

Another factor is that as fanbase, a lot of Syracuse fans looked at what happened with Paul Pasqualoni and the football team and concluded that that was what happens if you listen to the "negative fans" and fire a good coach "too early." I think it has left a lot of Orange fans with the attitude that "things will be worse if you get rid of the coach!" I'm hoping that reality eventually catches up with them and that they see the fear of losing out on an NIT bubble team that routinely gets blown out by mediocre teams conference rivals is nothing to be afraid of.

IMO the number of fans in the "be careful what you wish for" camp has already become very small.
Far fewer JB Defenders posting here.
"Retire JB" posts dominate, with little or no debate from JB Defenders.

“It could get worse” misses the point.

The question that matters is “can it get better?”

Anyone think JB is going to lead a program resurgence?

I really don't think that's it. People who wanted to keep p were scared of the alternative. Obviously I wanted him gone but gross outsourcing the replacement to Pete Carroll who picked his college roommate was very bad.

Most people who don't want boeheim canned feel like we owe it to him and that you can't fire legends for going .500. I know that p was. 500 at the end but I don't think what they owed to reach guy was the same

Not angry just shouldn’t be in this position. Used to look forward to games so much and now to be this irrelevant is insane. And now that this program is turning into all the programs we used to talk trash about, this is going to be a while before this is fixed sadly.

I’m not angry. Being angry that 20 yo’s don’t play basketball as well as I would like is way down the list on my outrage spectrum.

I think the JB Defenders camp is still very large, but not nearly as vocal. I don’t blame them for clamming up, as defending what’s left of this program has to be a difficult task, even for those who are not grounded in reality and concerned with facts and evidence.

I was angrier last night when the elbow to the head basketball move got waved off and no foul in the Duke - VT game. And everyone said right call.

This will sort itself out.

Does the President get any blame. Arguably, the basketball program is the face of the school. Something to really hang it's hat on for the alumni the last 50 years.

FWIW, I was far more “angry” at my adopted college hockey team getting thumped last night than the SU result. SU hoops isn’t worth getting angry about. If the head coach doesn’t care — and let’s be honest, he doesn’t — then why should we?

Most angry with how the NCAA has allowed the transfer portal and abuse of “NIL” to destroy the game I have loved for over 40 years. Goes way beyond Syracuse finally falling into a down cycle.

I was angry 10 years ago when we started rolling out severely flawed teams that either couldn’t score in the name of getting athletes for the zone. At that point, the zone was still a differentiator and we recruited elite athletes to make it work against most teams. But the writing was on the wall then as how this was going to end. The buddy years were the nail in the coffin... when the coach is so obviously making biased decisions I checked out. Now I am completely apathetic and I watch cuse hoops like my wife watches the real housewives of whereversville… it’s a train wreck in motion.

Must not be Oswego. They won last night and now host Plattsburgh next Saturday for the SUNYAC championship game with the winner advancing to the D3 playoffs.

I believe JW is the primary culprit. I don't fault JAB for wanting to do what he obviously loves to do. I completely believe JAB is blind to the fact that the game has passed him by. JW on the other hand has the advantage of perspective. I will admit that JAB has made a tremendous contribution to Syracuse Basketball and the City/County of Onondaga. We all have limits and we all are responsible to make ourselves accountable to those limits, both biological as well as emotional.
I don't dislike JAB, but as they say, "...the handwriting is on the wall...".
