1. A lot of money: Angeli, maybe Samuel

2. More than average: Deslauriers, Tremble, Mack, Starting receivers, maybe Washington.

3. “Market value”: Willis, Hill, Woody, Cruz, Peal, young receivers. (Bryant if he has another year)

That’s it. Everybody else is replaceable. Replacing with just equivalent talent should not even cost us that much NIL.

Every other young player getting playing time on defense is replaceable.

Other than the young receivers (who we do not even throw to any anymore), only Hill has impressed on offense, and we refuse to play him. Don’t overpay for Willis.

Fran should not be rewarding half of our returning O linemen, Willis, and most of our D. We can get more for our money.

1. Angeli
2. Portal Qb 1
3. Portal Qb 2

I’m not going out of my way to overpay anyone else. I’d give standard rate (whatever that is) to:
Samuels
Tremble
Antoine
Peal
Byron
Mack

We’re going to lose some very talented WR’s to the portal. I’d let that sort itself out. It’s crazy how deep we are at the position and we don’t have anyone that can complete a 10 yard forward pass.

Our current QB room is like a greatest hits of bad Syracuse QBs. AJ Long, CDRW, Braden Davis and Clayton Welch are all here together. It’s staggering how bad

IMO, Does it matter if you can’t evaluate the talent or coach them up when you get them?

Our offensive line is terrible and most came to us via the portal.

Our defensive line is terrible and many came via the portal.

Either our coaches can’t evaluate talent worth a chit or they can’t coach the talent up to be competitive. Both OL and DL coaches need pink slips.

Fran often says “big guys beat up little guys”. 1) It doesn’t matter if the big guy can’t bend his knees, bend at the hip, has slow feet or no explosiveness. 2) I don’t know why a little guy like Fran would say this to begin with. Fran is not a big guy. I never saw him play, but he sure talks like he was a tough player.

The whole QB situation is a major red flag. What Fran did tonight amounts to coaching malpractice. He probably destroyed Collins’ confidence and embarrassed him by giving him zero snaps tonight. Ditto for Carney. And a total vote of no confidence for Wiliams and Belin. I wouldn’t be surprised to see all four hit the portal. Clearly they aren’t going to get developed here.

And the receiver room. What a colossal waste of talent. I’m sure they’re excited to see how the rest of this year shapes up (sarcasm).

I’ve already heard of one starter with multiple years of eligibility remaining who is thinking of leaving. Fran knows it cause they have spoken and Fran is trying to throw more money at the player. The player isn’t sold and I doubt tonight helped. Players want to be developed.

I’m too disgusted to continue. This was bad.

I have read all of this Monday Morning QB comments concerning Fran Brown and the criticism he is taking over the QB play! Fans are killing me with this BS..and that is what it is! Heard none of this last year when we had Mccord killing things and we won 10 games. Based on our schedule, every analyst out there said this would be a very difficult season record wise. We start off the season 3-1 with Angeli as our starter , then he gets hurt...and here we are. Coach Fran and his Coaching staff missed on Ricky Collins!! They thought he could be the starter, then quickly found out, he wasn't as good as they projected and they went and got Angeli! Prior to Angeli arriving, collins beat our Williams and all the other QB's. So, that tells you right there, why we are in the mess we are in now. After the 4 games Ricky had, what choice did Fran have?
As far as players leaving after the year...after a losing season like this, where the defense sucks, the offense sucks, the receivers and tight ends snd running backs are all underproducing...only natural that players would want to leave and i suspect successful teams will try to poach some of our best players...Welcome to the new era of college football.
Having said all of that, changes across the board are in order, including some coaching staff changes! It will be a very interesting off sesaon.

guessing this is one of the starting WRs (Gill, cook) or maybe Willis. If I was a WR I’d be pissed beyond belief. And it has to be a starter who Fran is willing to pay up for. There’s only so many choices here.

For some reason OL has always been a struggle, even when there was a good run in 87-00. Some of those OL’s were decent, but it always seemed to be a weakness. Since 2000 the only solid OL’s they’ve had was when Marrone was HC and that’s because he was an OL coach and developed players. Shafer’s first year was solid as well, but that was more a carry over from Marrone. When we had Bergeron and Tucker they had a decent OL in 2021(?). Other than that it’s been an on going headache. When you’ve only had 2 offensive lineman drafted since 2010 that tells you all you need to know and it’s no coincidence those are the years the OL was decent.

I’m going to guess the player ready to bolt is Cook. Honestly, i’d like him to stay, assuming it’s him, but i wouldn’t be too concerned about losing a WR since it’s going to have to naturally work itself out as it is. That position always seemed to be the enigma for a while, especially in Babers era yr 4-8. Now we’re loaded with talent, but can’t capitalize.

I just can’t stop thinking of the best QB room ever posts. I’m sure a lot of that had to do with Fran talking up Collins saying it was 51/49 Rickie in Fall camp when it was clearly not. Now i’m thinking maybe Angeli would have came out stronger if he took all the snaps from day 1, but i get how that would be hard to tell and a bit unfair. As far as the current QB’s hitting the portal. I’m not going to bat an eye if they all leave minus Angeli. We need a complete and total overhaul. I also know why Fran would be so optimistic about Steve returning by Spring, but that’s to keep the current commits and current WR’s from
fleeing this disaster.

DL is a mix of Babers recruits and transfers. None were highly coveted, high potential guys, and the portal guys have been complete duds. Have a feeling it has a lot to do with the scheme. Anyone miss the 3-3-5? I like the high level athletes he has committed at edge rusher. We don’t have those kinds of players on the roster right now. The total defense is a complete lack of talent, which makes sense, since Fran’s recruits are still young and the Babers recruits are gap fillers. The problem is we are bad up the middle from LB-Safeties. Our corners are the best players, but they can only make so much of a difference. I’m going to give it another year and see how some of the kids Fran brought in develop, but none of it matters if you don’t have a QB.

If I’m a starter on offense I’d want a guarantee from Fran that they will go all out to make sure there are TWO legit quarterbacks on the roster for 2026. Need to pay up to bring in someone who can push Angeli or take over if Angeli isn’t 100%.

I’d also demand that Dale Williams gets the pink slip, and pay up to get an OL coach that is proven to develop players as both run and pass blockers.

Angeli is coming off a major leg injury. Likely won't be a ton of other bidders?

We will absolutely get a QB who can compete with Angeli. We need a guy with starting experience, not the next Rickie or CDRW who was a 4 star who hasn’t played at all

Tremble and Samuel are my guesses for players Fran is willing to pay more for.

Fran right now reminds me of the Herb Brooks line about the Soviet coach at the end of the miracle on ice game when he didn't pull the goalie. "He doesn't know what to do"

Interesting thoughts on developing players. Because for all the great recruiter talk (and I'm not doubting that), his success here will hinge on developing the large volume of recruits he's brought in. Most of which are of the 3 star developmental variety.

I'm also guessing that Calvin Russell, who attended last night, has a few questions that won't all be answered by a guy whose ACL injury happened in the 2nd half of September. Meaning the timetable for return likely isn't by game 1 of 2026.

I’m not sure how ruthless of a negotiator Angeli is. But in theory I feel like he could ask for literally anything he wants and would probably deserve it.

Perhaps, but the flip side of the negotiation is that he can get something better somewhere else. That won't be easy for him coming off this injury unless his healing timetable is faster than the average.

I’d cut Russell loose and redeploy his (probably considerable) NIL to linemen. Without a decent OL he’s of marginal value.

Maybe, we certainly need him badly but I'm very concerned about his rehab time and what he looks like once he gets back. That is such a huge injury that leaves a lot of unknowns. It may hit his leverage a bit

I'm not sold on Willis to offer much on him. Maybe it's because the QB situation, maybe it's because we were spoiled in recent years with more well rounded backs but he is not much of a threat receiving, his blocking is better than last year but he's just a big dude running down hill with little vision or wiggle. Usually just runs into traffic.
