JAB needs to break out the tape measure and make sure the hoops are ten feet tall. Then he needs to make sure our guys put their shorts on one leg at a time.I don’t believe we can be cold and hot in this one do you?
Interested in seeing how that new zone change up looks against Nova and/or how they adjust. Can't be hot and cold for sure.JAB needs to break out the tape measure and make sure the hoops are ten feet tall. Then he needs to make sure our guys put their shorts on one leg at a time.
I made a comment that if we scored in the 80's vs FSU then we had a fighting chance. Turns out we didn't need that many points to win. But I will stick with the same comment vs Nova.
On paper, they have a lot of really good shooters. Our zone will have to be super active, because you know Jay Wright will have them ready to exploit gaps in the zone no matter what configuration we use.I really don’t know anything about Nova this year. If they don’t play stifling on-ball pressure D that can totally disrupt Joe and deny Buddy the ball AND if we can rebound to at least even with them, we have a puncher’s chance probably. If we do win it’ll be a shootout like some of those early games against Duke seemed to be, where neither team could stop the other.
You will be able to copy and paste that multiple times this season. Like every game.Jesse needs to limit his fouls and stay in the game. That and Cole making shots are the keys to being competitive in my view.
If his first shot goes in then put the bubbly on ice.As he faces his ex-teammates, I think Cole may be ice cold or red hot. I fear it will be the former. He wants to prove himself to them and to Jay.
Lol. I’m not exactly known for my nuanced basketball knowledge. You will be able to copy and paste that multiple times this season. Like every game.
But it's so true what you said. That and a few other factors. But we need both those guys to play their A games.Lol. I’m not exactly known for my nuanced basketball knowledge.
We don't. We hope they miss some shots, make some bad passes, get some favorable calls inside. Then we need to make 14 treys.I just don't see how we stop them from scoring.
In addition, Syracuse is coming off 2 huge wins and has a head of steam rolling, and have faced 6 games of Tourney level competition in a row..The reason I foresee a path to victory is I anticipate:
Stand out games from Jesse and Cole. Every effort will be made to get Jesse touches, since he'll be the most obvious match up advantage to exploit. There's fairly good reason to expect that this may be the game when Cole catches fire w/his shooting. He may be able to simply shoot over the guy who switches onto him on screens.
The best team defensive performance of the season thus far. This team has learned that--because they lack the elite athleticism--they must be extremely active on defense against the best teams in order to give themselves a fighting chance. In addition to Boeheim's adjustments to his zone, a dedicated effort in the last game to rebound the ball was no mirage. Also, if memory serves, it appeared in the last game that Jesse was actually successful in blocking a couple of those corner threes that were attempted. He's got the length and mobility to take that away, at least occasionally.
The adrenaline/focus of being the Underdog vs a top tier team comes into play. It's something we see in the NCAAT all the time. There's good reason to expect it will be a factor tonight.
Jim Boeheim. As good as Jay Wright is, JB's analytical strengths appear to be in top form at this juncture. I'm expecting what we've seen from him the last couple of games will continue to put his team in a position to succeed tonight...
Agree with a good portion but can you add some more to that bolded? The reason I foresee a path to victory is I anticipate:
