Well, it doesn't matter who starts...it's who finishes. At least that's what we've come to know on the hoops side. ;):)

I dont think there is any doubt now who the quarterback should be. The FSU game was deadlocked until Devito came in the 3rd quarter and moved the ball down the field consistently. 30-7 Cuse. NC was a loss and then Devito came in.

I am saying this as a fan who has been the biggest Dungey supporter until the 4th quarter on Saturday. I had been extremely skeptical of Devito despite all the hype, talk, and the constant push by some Syracuse.com media members to make the change.

They were right. I was wrong. Time to make Devito the starter. It really, really is. And I say that thinking Dungey was a true find coming from Lake Oswego Oregon

I don't envy what Dino has to do on Saturday. I don't like the whole "short leash" thing, but we can't go through a stretch where we punt 7 straight series.

I think you have to start Devito and put Eric in if things aren't going rihgt.

If you start Eric and he plays poorly, and gets pulled for Tommy who plays well does that make the switch permanent for the rest of the year?

I see it the other way. Dungey has proved he can take over a game. My assumption is this discussion sparks a fire under his butt and the real ED shows up the rest of the way. Devito also showed an offense can stall under his guidance. Remember the Western Michigan game where he got nothing for the third quarter? Dungey came in and sparked the offense. But it’s a GOOD problem to have when both QBs are capable. I’ll be fine with whatever the Coach does, just adding my two cents.

Who do you want coming off the bench if the starter falters?

I get what you're saying, but I'm going to take his performance vs. FSU and UNC over WMU. Especially when WMU was his first game action in nearly 2 calendar years.

So the way the coach will approach this is...

He will start Dungey and pull him if needed. You can't name TD the starter and go back to ED if TD is struggling. That is how you lose the team. You can start ED and go to TD and everything is fine but once you make your mind up that TD is the starter that is it you have to live with the results good or bad.

Same situation Clemson just had. Hey, we’re moving up in the football world having too much talent.

Dungey starts
If the defense is not giving us the run game or short passes and "daring" us to throw it deep in will come Devito
Also if Dungey makes more of those stupid falling down "passes" Devito is in.

My concern with using both QBs is, will it make it hard to get into the game rhythm? I could see one or the other trying to make plays that aren't there to stay in the game. Both are talented but playing 2 QBs seems to rarely work.

I'm ready to get to 6 to 8 wins this year!

The kid has a heart of a lion but his arm is hurting and he can’t throw at all. Dungey last year yeah ur right but not now something is seriously wrong. It’s not even close.

Have whoever doesnt start talk to Dion Waiters about coming off the bench

I seem to recall a walkon set some team records for passing not too long ago and it was also shown that he was not really ready to be the starter..

Its still Eric Dungey so I am not going to flip out if he keeps his job. I just think this stuff is blatantly obvious. I also don't see Dungey having 5 good games of football left its a long season and we are only at the halfway point if you are counting games vs teams with a pulse and taking out Wagner and Uconn. If he gets a week or two off I think we might have 1 or 2 more great games left vs ND or BC the 2 matchups where I want him available and where Devito won't have any Dome cooking throw in some bad weather and I might want the bigger guy.

I can forsee a scenario where Tommy torches Ville for 500 yards and 5 TDs but the next week in Yankee Stadium struggles badly and we want to insert Eric ASAP and in the first half to try and win that one.

Again give me Devito slinging it all over the place for the last 2 home games and Wake and give me a healthier Eric waiting in the wings to play a lot more vs BC and ND.

I would not feel as strongly about starting Devito if this game was in Raleigh even though I would still go with him due to Dungey not being fully healthy.

I think they both start...Devito at QB and Dungey as a free agent...TE, WR, RB, wildcat...seems like that would be the best of both options...Dungey may not be able to throw, but having him on the field would give NC State a lot to defend...
