Why are we so concerned about Carney's Red Shirt?

It isn’t. Kids want to play and know what Fran is capable of with the right players.

Carney's redshirt is a MacGuffin. Nobody really cares about it. Possibly not even Carney.

But the situation is baffling and the redshirt is one of the only tangible bits of info we have, so we hear about it a lot.

QB is arguably the most position in sports. Carney has been mishandled this whole year at that position.

It’s an indictment on the coaches and will be used against us without question.

We have to pray that Angeli gets back to close to 100% next year.

Even if Luke won’t ever be a star, he still had legit D1/P5 interest and offers.

This coaching staff clearly has ZERO faith in his ability to either comprehend, or run, basic pass plays. He is a QB who can't run ANY pass plays, this deep into the season. He is trusted less than a freshman walk-on.

Why are panicking about burning a red shirt year for a QB who in game 11 of a season is not capable of running basic passing plays.

At this point I am 100% convinced that after Angeli next year our next QB will be someone not currently on this roster. The red shirt means nothing imo.

Well… Angeli has 2 years. If we have to worry about who the QB is going to be after next year, things probably went really well.

But other than that nit picky comment I just made, I agree with your over all statement.

That goes against Fran being a players coach. That was the mindset Ryan day had when he sent McCord in for his 5th game and we/kyle got screwed for it years later

He was rated the 117th best QB in the class.

Carney had offers from Arizona, Arkansas, BYU, Cal, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Memphis, Minnesota and San Diego State. Not a bad offer list.
