Why doesn't the band do this any more at the start of games?

We are a primarily a liberal private college in a liberal city in a liberal state...filled with students from the BOS-WAS who grew up pro fans if at all. We will never be like a large state school in a Red State with fan fervor.
This is a fair point. The northeastern US is a great sports region...for pro sports. Celtics - 76ers...Sox Yankees. Giants Eagles. NY, Boston, PHI, DC...great PRO sports towns. Probably the best in the country. There are some great rivalries that evoke passion. But in the south, the college rivalries are where that passion lies. I mean they still have pro sports of course, but push comes to shove I think (TexanMark can check me on this) that many truly live and die with the state U even if they didnt go there. That's just not really a thing in the northeast.

Having lived in Atlanta for awhile, UGA football far outpaced the Falcons. This was even during the whole Dirty Bird era.

Oh I feel yah, I’ve decided that I don’t really care anymore if a make people mad for standing, I want to see what’s going on and cheer.

I mean, I feel a little bad but not really, everyone should be standing.

Speaking of, I can’t wait to be standing, cheering in the dome very soon
That's the attitude I've adopted. It's like someone complaining that they sat next to a swimming pool and got wet. You should expect to go to a football game, and stand up on 3rd down and make noise, because that's just what you do at a football game. Now, if the person seems rather old, or unable to stand I get it. But I've been scolded by able bodied people who don't appear to qualify for AARP yet.

Well as someone who works for AARP allow me to tout the fact that we offer associate memberships to people between the ages of 18 and 49... ;)
