Why WAKE FOREST will win
- Because we absolutely, positively have to win this game. And that’s not the best attitude to have when you are trying to accomplish anything. Any frustration will be magnified and the accomplishments will be squeezed out as if from a tube of toothpaste.
- We are a broken team with 10 guys who have started for us out or “doubtful”. Guys who replaced guys are out. Ironically, John Raymon, whose career had been in doubt, may be our healthiest defensive tackle. Full strength we win this one but we aren’t full strength or even close to it.
- Wake is awful on offense but they are good on defense and won’t let us get away from them on the scoreboard. They will be the home team and will be in this one all the way.
- Their secondary is the strength of their defense, which will be a challenge to our young quarterback and receivers.
- AJ Long is a cocky guy but he hasn’t proven he can get it done week in, week out. True freshmen quarterbacks tend to get their come-uppance at some point. And if he gets hurt, it’s Mitch Kimble. And behind is….Riley Dixon?
- Cole Murphy can kick field goals but he kicks them awfully low. Kind of a kicking time-bomb. Wake’s Mike Weaver hasn’t missed all year and Tyree Harris is a dynamic kick returner, (remember when we had them?) In a close, low scoring game, special teams loom very large. Theirs loom larger than ours.
- They’ve just had that bye week we have to wait another four games for. They will be rested and healed up and well-prepared for this one.
