Wildhack retires today

Dave Benedict, because of his last two football hires, impresses me. There is a lot to like in his resume. Plus, we stick it to UConn by taking him.
That would be so juicy. If he made that move it likely signifies they are likely no where near getting to the power conference table as we would like to believe.

The 71-year-old Frazier, who was promoted to his current position of senior deputy athletics director in 2016, is retiring as of this weekend.

Frazier’s retirement plans have been known since last fall. He stayed on to see the Syracuse football team through its 2025 season.

“I wanted to make sure we got through the football season,’’ he said, “and if there was going to be post-season, I’d be able to handle that.’’

Frazier’s departure, coupled with this week’s announcement that SU athletic director John Wildhack will step down as of July 1, leaves Syracuse’s athletics department without its top two leaders.

You do realize that college football and college basketball attendance has been declining for years, right? It's not just an SU thing.
Well, we are about to get a huge influx of about 9,000 people for Micron, many from Boise and Mannasses, who may want to attend quality college sports. That does not count people moving here for Micron ancillary businesses.

Herm was most responsible for setting up our of conference games and filling gaps in the football schedule, wasn’t he?

If that’s accurate, the guy deserves a medal for doing this for years and enduring the endless fan complaints.

Definitely agreed! John Wildhack is a smart, great leader - very sorry to see him go.
Carlsons article doesn’t give JW nearly enough credit focused entirely on JB and basketball. He forgets the disaster that was TGD Gross. The facilities especially Lally and the Dome are transformative and continue to improve. TGD couldn’t have done that. Then we had his successor for about 20 minutes. THATS a crisis. Required leadership and we will b lucky to get someone who loves the school as much or who delivers tangible results.

Did coyle do nothing in between gross and wildhack? I recall people angry he left but now he’s like the invisible man of action.

AD needs to decide on football if Fran quits again. That’ll be a big decision. I suspect hoops will he a hire by incoming .

He solved the double dipping that was going on at the University Parking Lot when I showed up with my pass and they were "sold" out - literally as they were taking money from non-pass holders. Emailed him on Sunday, response Monday, fixed next game.

he started looking for a job as soon as he realized how bad of shape the AD was in and it was a complete rebuild job. People don't understand how dire things were. John stepped in out of love for Syracuse, not because it was a great job. At least now we can recruit for a real AD and not have to mislead them about the shape of the AD.
