How do you put your team in a position to win without a QB? Should he have had a better backup QB available? Sure. Could he have had a better backup QB? Maybe.

Unless Nixon is a one-trick pony, Angeli went down after Week 4.
He had 2/3 of a season to install new plays.

Offenses install new plays as the season goes along every year, at least a few plays specific to each opponent, and a perceived weakness they have.

We had a guy come in who couldn't make the throws. So we gave up on the offense.

Why didn't we start teaching more aggressive run blocking? (I don't think they ever really "fired off the line" ...).

Why didn't they come up with anything? It only took 1 or 2 games to know that the back up couldn't do what they wanted.

So why didn't they start calling a lot more RPO to take advantage of the back up's athleticism, and have him put pressure on the defense at the edge?

Running wide can open up holes in the middle, just like one play sets up another in countless instances.

I’ve read it many times. It’s not a good look either way u fall on Bill. I think bill had success post wildhack and nationally (where people judge SU on wins and losses not on cap ex or op ex within SUAD) people think wildhack was a failure.

That’s my entire point. School is not doing well academically ranking wise and not doing well athletically and both are hiring new new. That’s good if both rise.

I just want Syracuse to succeed and be looked upon favorably nationally.

Objectively Fran quit. If people are ok with that then that’s fine. Just don’t want to hear how terrible Pasqualoni was. That guy never quit on a season even when things were tenuous.

1) It's been posted repeatedly that Heather Lyke will not be our next AD.

2) It's been posted repeatedly that Mike Haynie will be our next Chancellor.

Both of these things have come from posters who have shared correct information over and over again.

Needless to say, folks are free to deny the accuracy of the posts. But at least read them, process that info, and use it to inform your own posting. You know, instead of being unhinged.

They were still trying. The result was awful. The notion that we gave up is insulting to all the coaches and players. None of the backup QBs gave us a chance to win. They tried to get more younger guys playing time. It’s not like the guys they replaced did any better. It’s one thing if guys were doing amazing and he pulled them for youngsters.

Not sure he quit. I think he was focuse on next year, not next game. Trying to develop the young talent on the roster so next years team would get as many reps as possible. Not the way P would have done it but different strokes. Let’s not forget as smart and tough as Fran is, he’s a rookie H/C. I could be wrong and I am more often than not I just think Fran is learning on the fly, and that’s not easy. Out

Who cares what people think about Wildhack's tenure. First, I don't think most people know who the heck he is. And second, does it matter at all?

If people think "wins = good AD", "losses = bad AD" that's on them for having a simplistic viewpoint.

Come on. We had a player who could make some throws, but was really inconsistent. So, don't try to make him be Angeli; take advantage of his athleticism. I don't think they did that at all.

If you listen to the OrangeNation interview you would know John’s contract expired in July of 2025. He did not want a multi year extension and asked to go year by year. He’s been working for 46 years, will be 68 in October with his youngest a senior in college and is ready to enjoy the next chapter.

That's fine.

The appointment to the committee came before that. So why did he go through with the selection process if he knew he wanted to be done soon?

Why not allow someone else who is vying for that position to gain the experience?

Just a very weirdly timed appointment all things considered.

The vast majority care and watch on the couch and that’s cool but they do not give a penny and then expect to be heard and patted on the back for their sacrifice.

i dont think at that time he knew what he was gonna do. why he didnt want a multi year contract and said lets take it a year at a time.

This right here, I don’t buy the quit narrative at all. Our QB situation was beyond horrible. I still don’t think we have heard the full story on Carney.

I can only guess people are taking issue with the defense giving up a billion points. But defense and offense in football aren’t silo’d like they are in other sports. If your offense can’t move the ball, your defense is going to get rocked.

To clarify I think the people that do put their money in are less vocal because they are more informed. They know it does nothing to vent into social media and fuel the fire.

And yes I think if people don’t put their money where their mouth is then their voice shouldn’t matter or at least be taken with a grain of salt. Same with anything else.

I draw the line at attending at least one game then by all means have at it. If you can’t be bothered to give any money or go to at least one game a year then who cares.

It’s like do I care what my cousin or my uncle are arguing about on different sides of the political spectrum when neither of them vote. I Do Not.
