Wildhack Tidbits

Just put a Mic on the bell if you're gonna run with it. We were directly above it and it sounded weak sauce.

I'm all for tradition, but got dammit, if we're gonna ring a bell, I want that bell to make my ears bleed. Ring that sunuva... with all ya got!

I hear you about the whistle however, I think it is much better then the bell. What would be your suggestion as a replacement? I do think they need something after a score.

I'd like 50,000 people yelling, but that one's tough to find apparently.

I can be talked into the bell, maybe it'll grow on us. After 2 or 3 years of the train whistle, though, I know I won't warm to that noise.

If I want to hear a horn after every score, I'd go to a hockey game.
My question is more along the lines if not a whistle or a bell, what would you like? Maybe a cannon sound or maybe nothing.

Maybe if they show Liberace ringing a little bell like at the first Wrestlemania, that could work.

Effective July 1, 2015, Syracuse University is a tobacco-free campus. There are no designated smoking areas on campus. The aim of Syracuse University's tobacco-free policy is to create a healthy environment to live, work and learn.
if you want a healthy enviroment then get a/c or let people go out for some fresh air. there is nothing more unhealthy than the air quality in the dome.

Nothing. It's a college football game, the crowd cheering should be enough.
Small crowds = little noise, but I get where you're coming from. If we get back the crowds from the McPherson/McNabb era we will be good to go.

Baseball offers the most clues here. I like the idea of a tradition, especially one that gets under the skin of or demoralizes an opponent. The Mets have their apple after a HR, the Marlins a large colorful display of moving parts, the Royals their fountains, the Brewers a mascot sliding down a slide. The Astros used to have a digital gun fight on the big screen that I think could get VERY bothersome. I think our problem is we are between identities. We try to be very contemporary, with a flat turf field, a domed stadium, a dynamic fast paced offense, while also trying to be hyper traditional with the retired 44, the bell, the lore of the program, etc. I love them both, we just need to find a way for both to co-exist or pick one and run full speed with it.

Soooo... this bell?

This is perfect!! Even the engraving is awesome and would totally psych out the opposition. Instead of ACDC could read 'CUSE and then Domes Bell

John Wildhack on Axe yesterday...

"We want to feature the band more ... provide that collegiate feel"

"I don't know how many years it's been, we scored a touchdown we had that train whistle, we are replacing that with a victory bell. I just think that's much more collegiate spirit and feel."

"We really want to emphasize after we score, the fight song. Get all our fans and students to sing the fight song"

"Season ticket holders we have an email the day before the game... giving them the game day rundown with when the parking lots open quad opens ... the national anthem .. team run out etc"

"New team entrance video and player profiles"

"Season ticket holders leave the dome they'll have an email where they can watch the press conference OR game highlights."

"We want to make the fan experience and improve upon it every year, it's never ending. I think we've made progress this year and i hope the fans take advantage of those opportunities. We get consistent feedback from out fans and that's valuable"
The train noise was an awesome addition a couple of years ago. It sounds cool and exciting, and it directly ties into "Ernie Davis Field." What could possibly be more "collegiate" than a direct reference to your college's best ever player every time you score?

The train whistle was loud and instantaneous which provided a jolt of excitement in the dome. It's equivalent to the goal horn in hockey. The bell killed the mood and was an embarrassment.

I mentioned this in a different thread but I did email ADJW. Exchange is below. Pretty clearly a copy/paste but I appreciate even a generic response.

I loved the train whistle. It was loud and intimidating and signifies to get off the tracks, the express is coming! ...The bell, while being part of old SU tradition means nothing to me. I didn't even know about it and I'm 61. Like others have said, maybe after extra points.
