FWIW wifi can suck and does at a major league baseball game, big concerts, etc...granted there seemed to be no on there last night hitting it...
It's not that people had trouble locking onto the Dome's wifi signal...
it wasn't even turned on last night.
The only wifi signal I could pick up was from a Centro bus parked outside Gate A.
What is going on with the WiFi/sound system business? Is it even being addressed? Maybe behind schedule and not ready for a petty opponent home opener? These should not be hard or expensive to redo. A new sound system can be done in two days max for crying out loud.
Way over my head here, but I remember reading that the sound system is not going to get much better until they get steel girders in the roof to support the weight of hanging state of the art audio/video systems.
Absolutely nothing. Except taking the train whistle away. Wifi is still a big PITA. Never really noticed out of town scores or yankee score.
Yes they rang a bell for each point of the score after a touchdown. The acoustics are so horrible and for the first few scores they didn't have the microphone close enough to really hear it. They finally figured out where to put the microphone and by that time the score was so high , the bell ringing almost interrupted the start of play. They put the bell a few times on the large screen. I think they still have a number of wrinkles to figure out regarding the bell. At least twice it kept dinging as they moved it from the endline back to the tunnel after they finished. They need to find the way to move the bell without ringing it or find an inconspicuous corner to leave it throughout the game.
The biggest issue is the horrific sound system. You can't hear anything , it's all muffled. It seems to have gotten even worse over time.
The band played a tribute to the Beatles at half-time. Again it was difficult to hear because of the rotten sound system. As previously mentioned, it was nice seeing the larger band. The extremely talented baton twirler must have graduated and there was no replacement during the half time show. I think it's great that the administration is trying to be receptive to new ideas and changes suggested by fans etc but until the sound system problem is resolved , we can't judge them less fully enjoy them.
WIFI sucked. And by sucked, I mean it didn't exist.
And they wonder why all the students left at halftime.
I don't even bother trying to use it. The data from my cell carrier is 1000 times better.
Can't say I have any idea what the going rate for an acoustical engineer is, but it sounds like it would cost...you know...money. If they could have found one to do an analysis for beer and pretzels, I'd think it would have been done years ago.Glad you mentioned the sound system--I thought it was just me. It certainly has gotten worse, if that is possible. They need an acoustical engineer to analyze the situation and take measures to address the problem, especially if the proposed Dome renovation is on hold.
There was a bell?
Agree about the sound system, it's an awful experience especially if you sit in the end zones. This needs to be fixed and the same goes for wifi. I know they're probably waiting for the dome reno but that doesn't cut it anymore. It's not cheap to go to games and it's not 1985 anymore. Someone needs to open up the purse strings and attend to both of these issues now or you'll see less and less folks sitting on the metal benches.
The bell is out of date; it felt like I was watching a game in 1975. If they have an intro which includes an Elmira Express train, the train whistle works really well.
I was wildly disappointed with the game day experience; somehow they took something that was underwhelming and managed to make it worse. That was such a difficult feat, I can't help but feel like it was planned.
..and let's not forget heroin....To each their own. I listen to music from any era, from Hoagy Carmichael to Michael Kiwanuka. Say what you want about grunge but at the time it brought soul and meaning back to rock music.
i would venture to say not many know what they were anymore. we even lost our name orangemen there has not been any carryover so i think the "newer" fans would even care about them. i would like to see what people think the traditions (new or old)are? When I see the USC Trojan Horse it reminds me of 1975, 1969, 2002, 2012 etc.
When I see the Texas Longhorn it reminds me of all those years.
The SU BB Stand and Clap For First Basket reminds me of 1976 when it was introduced - and that's the point.
College traditions are handed down from year to year and that is what builds loyalty, love and fun.
SU Football badly needs a return to the traditions that were the hallmark of our success.
Enter sandman, although taken by VT is an awesome entrance. Just awesome!
