Will Syracuse Football be better in 2021

Will SU football be better in 2021? Babers is just as curious as us

just read the above article from Syracuse.com(non pay article). Interview with DB. Similar interview in keeping expectations low and saying we do not have depth.
What I found interesting is that it said we had 80 scholarship players heading into camp including the six returning seniors. That would make it seem that we have eleven open scholarships since the six do not count. My math may be way off but that seems like a lot more than expected.
I know we lost pat davis but it seems like other guys have left that we are unaware. It will be interesting to see who is back when we finally get an accurate updated roster.

Just referenced this article in a new thread. I pointed out that it seems like we have lost more players that have not been mentioned.

How in the world do we have fewer than 80 players, with six 6th year guys on the roster? That's like we're 10 men under the ordinary roster limit. How could that be?

He doesn't sound very optimistic going into this season. You have 8 guys who have started on the offensive line. You have 4 quarterbacks who have seen live action. He needs to fire these guys up.

It's pretty solid article. Nothing earth shattering but a few things stood out to me.

A) Syracuse will head into camp with it's offensive line healthy.
B) last year all but one lineman was hurt off the field and one walking down steps. (I mean that's just crazy bad luck)
C) 1/3 of the roster last year was lost - mostly to injury
D) roster is only at 80 players in a year when rosters can exceed 85.

sometimes you can't control who or how many leave the program. (transfers, early nfl entry). 15 hit the portal and 3 left early.

That almost sounds like a mass exodus. Lol

With the portal being loaded with bodies, you'd think we'd take a few flyers out on guys who could at least provide some depth?
I’m thinking that we hear some names that we are not expecting when camp opens. Also I think there are others that have left we have not heard about. Maybe Adam’s, RTB and some others.
Technically we should have 91 on the roster entering camp. Maybe they are keeping numbers down so they have more options in the class of 2022. However we know guys will leave.

Does he ever say we have depth? It's year 6. If we still don't have depth, might need to look in the mirror.

Just saw Adams in yesterday's video. RTB wasn't in the WR picture, so it wouldn't shock me if he's gone

Dino would make a terrible marketing executive. Does he have to b**** about the lack of depth already and frame it like it was a problem that he inherited? It’s July, camp hasn’t even started yet and you have led this program for 6 freaking years! You are the reason depth is still an issue. Either fix it or step aside and let someone run it who can (and also show a little more optimism).

We’re likely still kicking the tires there but as has been said before kids leaving other schools usually have some baggage

when he talks about depth he’s talking about the bottom half of the roster. He’s talking about things like losing three secondary guys early to the NFL draft and not having plug and play depth to replace them.

He doesn't seem too high on Bleich so far

Under sell, over perform. He's named 2 (obvious) OL starters and that's all he's giving away.

Imagine the scenes here if he came out overhyping this group after a 1-10 campaign? Dino says very little (intentionally) in the interview while throwing a few motivational comments in there for the lessor known players. Who's up for it essentially
