I was a student when we stormed the court in 2007 against Georgetown. Made me sick to my stomach. If we are in the top five still then and we storm the court I'll vomit.

When is the last time we stormed the court? I remember some around 2007, 2008 after beating Georgetown. We weren't that good then, though.

It's about as classy as the Beat Duke T-shirts or the "We're #1" shirts. It's things like those that prove we're not "blue bloods".

Tho I also don't love those Beat Duke T-shirts, the marketing strategies of Shirt World and Nice 'n Easy don't reflect whether we are a blue blood program or not. If they can sell 'em, they are printing 'em.

And the silly shirts get people excited. My 83 year old mother asked me if I wanted a Beat Duke tee. She's fired up! She wouldn't have a clue we are playing Duke if she didn't see those t-shirts in Wegmans. Same with thousands of others. It fascinates me how often the t-shirt topic comes up. I don't think t-shirts or a few hundred students running on the floor is a reflection of how elite or not our program is.

In the old days, court stormings meant something. Those days are gone. And don't the players seem to enjoy when the students do it? I've softened my stance on this.

Let's go the other way on this one - pro storming. I say we storm after every victory, regardless of location or opponent.

You see Grant and Fair at Schiller park beat two 11 year olds? Storm it.

You see us whomp on Colgate on Playstation on your TV? Storm it.

We should have stormed last night at VPI. Lost opportunity there.

Duke at Cuse? Storm the Hell out of it.

Big difference. That's their archrival. I give it a pass, just like if we printed up "Beat Georgetown" or "" shirts.

it's a matter of context. suppose we came back from a big deficit and beat duke on the final shot. storm away.
on the other hand if we stay comfortably in front all game (as we should) a storming would seem lame.

I'll never forget in my freshman year when we beat UConn on Big Monday when they were the defending champs, we stormed the court. I did it because I was a freshman and our RA was a big UConn fan who flat out laughed in my face when I told him SU would win, but I remember having also taped the game and rewatching it, Dickie V said "Is this really that big?" in an amazed sort of tone, as we were getting ready to storm. Changed my perception of court stormings.

Court storming is for mid-majors and teams who don't make it to the tournament too often. Leave the storming to UConn and Rutgers.
