Would you like to play Rutgers?

I'll be stunned if it's not rutgers

Fran coached at Rutgers under Schiano and he has a very good relationship with him

i'm fine with them. Would prefer Maryland or Wisconsin

For fun give me Nebraska (nostalgia) or UCLA (lots of LA 'Cuse grads)

So appreciate everyone likes Al, by all means he seems like a really nice guy from what everyone says but other than regionally close, I don't see the value and upside. We already strongly recruit NJ with our staff. They aren't what I would consider a rival. Rutgers has no reputation as a winning program that would look good on a future SU season resume. All time record is Syracuse 36 to 12 Rutgers. I can see why Rutgers would want it for recruiting. There's upside for Rutgers and negligible value for Syracuse. Pass.

Hell no. I don't want to give any oxygen to that school and I certainly don't want them as a "rival". No thanks.

I still remember watching the game in 1999. That was a crushing loss. I was so embarrassed as a diehard cuse fan. It was our first loss to butgers since i started watching cuse religiously my freshman year in 89.

Nothing wrong with working them into the rotation for a home-and-home or two each decade.

They have won 7 out of the last 9 against us so I would like to right the ship a bit.

If you genuinely hate a team, the satisfaction of beating them is so much better than ignoring them.

I think Rutgers and Maryland make more sense than Michigan State or Illinois. We are not recruiting those areas heavily. But if not helpful for recruiting, then it does not matter.

At least MSU would be a team that to my knowledge we haven’t played. Wisconsin might be fun as well.

But the only compelling reason to me to play RU is to get wash out the bad taste from that game in 2021.

True, the 2000s haven't been the best against that dump of a team. However, we still have a 30-13 record against them all time.

Don't forget the tie!!!

Only 330k people watched Rutgers on a Thursday night.

We need games that will draw eyes for revenue distribution.

I think that a Syracuse vs. Rutgers game would be a big draw for both teams. Neither team is terrible, so it would likely be a competitive game. I don't believe the majority of Rutgers fans hate Syracuse (although there's something to be said for the NY/NJ thing). We know that there is a lot of venom from the Cuse side (the infamous dumpster fire thread) probably due to conference jealousy, recent losses, who claims to be New York's team, etc. It kind of reminds me of the Yankees vs. Red Sox stadium tours. The Yankees really don't talk much about the Red Sox on their tours, but if you go on the Fenway tour, the rivalry is mentioned several times.

I'm a fan of nostalgia, so it would be fun to see a matchup of two former Big East schools. I say we do it. Plus, who wouldn't want to see Fran go against Schiano?

I dont think Rutgers does a ton for us right now when we're focused on TV ratings. However, it may be a nice thing to do for a lot of our players and I can see it being a fun rivalry series. But I suspect we want bigger name brand draws both on the road and away given importance of TV viewers.

if TV didn't matter, I could see it being a nice every other year type of series. That way each school is hosting the other every fourth year.

If Rutgers is vying for the same NJ recruits it would be great to have them in person in NJ when we play and offer an easy road trip for their families every other year. IF Cuse is to ve a viable option this should be a game we want for recruiting and a yearly W. If we're afraid of potential upside of Rutgers we should fold up shop.

The following is a list of Big Ten teams I’d schedule before letting the Rutgers trash into the JMA Wireless Dome or subjecting our team to having to play in SH(i)T Stadium:

Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Maryland
Michigan
Michigan State
Minnesota
Nebraska
Northwestern
Ohio State
Oregon
Penn State
Purdue
USC
Washington
Wisconsin
UCLA

In fact, I would rather schedule an away game against the only former Big Ten member, Division III University of Chicago.
