Orange Nation radio show was talking about this possibility so buckle up unless insiders want to interject and set the record straight
All the love in the world for Hop, but it's hard to imagine him getting an interview, even as a courtesy.

I've been on the Schertz/Skinn train, but I now have a strong sense that it's Hodgson and probably has been for a while. Would not be shocked if it's already pretty much a done deal unless he's holding out to see what other vacancies appear and raise his price, a la Schertz playing coy.

Where’s the voting option for

tracy morgan no GIF

And this would be the same vote for ANY coaching candidate that is only being considered due to a Cuse connection.

Once again, with feeling:

Full national search.
Best possible coach available.
Pay that man his money.

Let's get it over with and start a thread for every player and coach that has ever been on an SU team!

We'll start with the As!
  • Should Kris Aaron be our next head coach?
  • Should Dick Abelman be our next head coach?
  • Should Jim Ackerson be our next head coach?
  • Should Albert Ackley be our next head coach?
  • Should Earl Ackley be our next head coach?
  • Should Angelo Acocella be our next head coach?
  • Should Rafeal Addison be our next head coach?
  • Should Doyin Akintobi-Adeyeye be our next head coach?
  • Should John Bol Ajak be our next head coach?
  • Should Tyrone Albright be our next head coach?
Come on guys, only 806 more to go!
Jason Cipolla, come on down!

Board know it alls will say what they want, they always do.

UW’s a bad basketball program. Hop ended up having his own problems, sure, but I dont think that was a true reflection of his ceiling as a coach. Id take him well before a lot of the names that pop up

There’s certainly options id hope we’d take ahead of him too, but he’s not a lame duck.

Love Hop. Super nice dude. Have met him a bunch. Head coach no. He will likely get an interview which I’m fine with. Show some courtesy. Hop is a hell of an assistant coach though. Dude is a grinder on the recruiting trail , relates well with kids. Players LOVE him. He was the perfect good cop to JB’s good cop/bad cop. I would take Hop back in 2 seconds as the top assistant

Id jump in front of a Centro bus, if he was even seriously considered. And that goes for any former Cuse player
And we thought that the guy who said he would eat his cell phone if Russell signed with Cuse was extreme.

Why not Hop???? Duke and Carolina keep bringing back former coaches or players as coaches...and it has worked out for them...why not us? People on this thread don't want to acknowledge that is is more than a Coach! Cuse's problems and inability to become elite again...has more to do with Money than anything else. It's about quality players...

I have no idea why you are directing this at my post. I haven't posted a take on Hopkins. The post you are replying to was in reference to the guy jumping in front of a bus.

Once it was decided that we had to stay "in-house" for the last hire, the only legitimate candidates should have been Hop, Jason Hart, and Pitino (even though it would never happen). Hop probably would have been the final choice.

I think Wildhack has been itching for a national search for years now. So, it won't be Hop this time around. But he is a current NBA assistant, former coach-in-waiting, NCAA national champion, and Pac-12 Coach of the Year. We could do worse. His fundraising prowess here would be unrivaled - people just love Hop in Syracuse.
