Kinda of funny it's been SU folks that broke news about Russell and none of the big names like Thamel and Nakos have had anything about it.

Both of them report more on coaching and overall recruiting more than breaking commitments and flips.

Also watch his recruiting ranking get downgraded now. I haven't kept up too much with recruiting besides this and the 4 star flip, how is the overall class? 247 says the 31st ranked so it seems pretty good.

A major shakeout, a fortifying revamp and an upgrade in personnel (players and coaches), and we're ready to go for '26. Fran has, and will continue to learn from the dismal '25 season.
I am marked safe from mediocrity. We can get excited again.

I'll also add that despite the solid class, Russell was the icing on the cake. We have other quality WRs lined up in the class -- the world wouldn't have ended if Russell had decommitted. But from a perception standpoint, it was nice for Fran to be able to hang onto the 5-star.

First of many Fran eventually lands, hopefully.

If we'd lost him, it would have just created fan anxiety over every highly rated recruit who would give a verbal committment here for the rest of time.

Instead, it turns out we CAN have nice things.
