NIck Armentano in 2005?
That’s where i was at. Perception wise this is massive…… but i’ll still take him!Right on.
I'll also add that despite the solid class, Russell was the icing on the cake. We have other quality WRs lined up in the class -- the world wouldn't have ended if Russell had decommitted. But from a perception standpoint, it was nice for Fran to be able to hang onto the 5-star.
First of many Fran eventually lands, hopefully.
If we'd lost him, it would have just created fan anxiety over every highly rated recruit who would give a verbal committment here for the rest of time.
Instead, it turns out we CAN have nice things.
They're so mad. That's hilarious. They are a salty bunch. As soon as they didn't get him, he was overrated. A sure bust.
This, This, This. A thousand times this.Absolutely amazing job by Fran keeping this class intact after those last 8 weeks. That man can recruit. If we can keep stacking talent like this it’s going to be really fun. A+ job on this class.
And as I stated in another post last year Fran brought in 7 OL, and 7 DL with good measurables and 4 and 4 this year . Some of those 14 lineman he brought in last year should be able to help this year.No more.
A major shakeout, a fortifying revamp and an upgrade in personnel (players and coaches), and we're ready to go for '26. Fran has, and will continue to learn from the dismal '25 season.
I am marked safe from mediocrity. We can get excited again.

Hear ya, but that was a deflated team going thru the motions knowing they couldn't win. I expect some of those downtrodden players to be reanimated, rededicated (or whatever) and play at a high, difference-making level next year w/the return of Angelli. We lost 8 games by an average of 30 points.
We need difference makers all over the field, & Calvin is one, but other areas are more crucial, like lineman, the DC, the specials coordinator, etc.
I'll remain flat until September & after I see improvements in tackling angles, pass blocking, run blocking, & overall organization / game readiness.
He’s already throwing the ball and is actually two weeks ahead of schedule. Fran has said in interviews that he’ll be ready for spring ball, and will participate in some capacity but he’ll be in a black non-contact jersey. Fran also confirmed in those interviews that we’re bringing in two quarterbacks from the portal.Love that we were able to hang onto CR, but the elephant in the room is that somebody has to be able to get him the ball. I am comfortable viewing Angeli as the projected starter. He put up big numbers before he got hurt, but can he be ready at day 1 ? Will he be able to pickup where he left off ? Legitimate reasons for optimism, but he will have to prove it on the field, assuming he gets back onto the field on schedule. CANNOT have another season with total incompetence from the revolving door # 2 guy. Absolutely have to bring in somebody proven from the portal. I doubt we can attract somebody who can legitimately compete with Steve for the #1 guy, but there has to be capable guys from lower levels who would like a crack if given the opportunity and can at least be competent when they play.
Nobody expected Rikki to be the dud that he was, but he had no experience and was a big question mark. Need somebody who has gotten it done and has some experience. Have to learn from hindsight.
