I'm not being negative. I'm laying out how I see it. Fran really shouldn’t get too much credit for the 10–3 season in 2024 because the success was far more about circumstances than his coaching impact. He inherited a roster with proven playmakers Gadsden, Allen, Pena, Gill, Wax, Clark, Barron, Diggs, Chestnut. Guys who were already producing before he arrived. The biggest difference maker was McCord transferring in. Not a long-term recruiting win, but Fran does get credit for that. On top of that, the schedule was soft, ranked outside the top 50 nationally. We barely survived games against UNLV, VT and UConn. The defense, which is supposed to be Fran’s specialty, was mediocre at best giving up almost 30 points per game and ranking in the 90s nationally. If Fran truly deserved the credit, the program would have sustained momentum. Instead, 2024 looks like lightning in a bottle. Inherited stars, a portal QB and a soft schedule, not the mark of a coach who transformed Syracuse football.

So Brown was able to take a bunch of guys from the prior regime, and some blue chip transfers, and coach them into a ten win, top 25 team.

That’s speculation dressed up as fact. You don’t know those guys would’ve left. You’re just assuming it because it fits your narrative. If Chesney, Candle or Mullen was the choice you think they all would've left?
They actually said as much in interviews. It is fact. JB said he was putting in his paperwork. Gadsen said same. You’re just trolling.

Truth hurts. Fran Brown's been nothing but sizzle. Where's the steak?
I will bite, against my greater judgement.

10-3 in Year 1. Only the second coach in Syracuse history (of 31) to achieve that in their first season. Led the ACC’s all-time single-season passing leader and finished the season Top-20 nationally. Beat #6 Miami, Holiday Bowl victory, and road wins against 11-3 UNLV, NC State, and Cal, plus a home win over Georgia Tech. Earned Paul “Bear” Bryant and FWAA First-Year Coach of the Year honors. For the first time since 1998, Syracuse beat three AP-ranked opponents, marking only the third 10-win season since 2000.

Team Offense: 2nd in the ACC in total yards per game, 1st in passing yards, 2nd-best 3rd down conversion rate, best 4th down conversion rate, 2nd-best red zone offense, 1st in time of possession.
LeQuint: 8th in rushing yards, 1st in rushing TDs, 1st in points scored per game, 1st in TDs accounted for, 5th in all-purpose yards.
McCord: Led ACC in passing attempts, completions, yards, and yards per game; 3rd in TDs, 4th in efficiency.
Receivers: Treb, Meeks, and OG were 1st, 2nd, and 4th in receptions; 2nd, 4th, and 5th in receiving yards; three of the top 10 in receiving TDs.
Special Teams: Stonehouse was #2 in punt average.
Defense: Diggs was 5th in TFLs and sacks; Clarence Lewis 4th in PBUs; Devin Grant tied 3rd in forced fumbles.

McCord delivered arguably the best single season by a QB in ACC history, coming to Syracuse from OHIO STATE. He led the country in pass completions, pass attempts, passing yards (ACC all-time record), and yards per game.

Of the 20 Syracuse alumni currently on NFL rosters, 10 were either transfers brought in by Fran Brown or players he retained in just one season. He successfully kept Barron, OG, LeQuint, Alijah, and Marlowe. All NFL-caliber players who were going to leave and have said as much.

Syracuse’s 2026 recruiting class ranks 29th nationally, marking the best class in program history, that's after having the best class in school history in 2024. It includes a Top-50 overall player and up to seven 4-star recruits depending on the service. Current key corners include a 17-year-old true freshman 4-star who chose Syracuse over Miami, and a Georgia transfer who was among the best in the ACC. A True Freshman Linebacker who looks like he could be playing on Sundays right now.

Transfers:
Fadil Diggs – Texas A&M, now on NFL roster
Zeed Haynes – Georgia
Justus Ross-Simmons – Colorado State (highly sought after)
Isiah Hastings – Alabama
Jackson Meeks – Georgia, now on NFL roster
Savion Washington – Colorado, now on NFL roster
Joshua Miller – Georgia
Clarence Lewis – Notre Dame, All-ACC player, on NFL roster
Johntay Cook – 5-star prep talent from Texas
Steve Angeli – Notre Dame
Naquil Bertrand – Alabama
Zach Rice – 5-star prep talent from UNC
TJ Ferguson – Florida State
Kam Pringle – 5-star prep talent from South Carolina

2026:
Tedarius Hodges – Flipped from Florida State
Alex Haskell – Flipped from Penn State
Zaid Lott - Flipped from UNC
Amare Gough - 4 Star Va Kid chose Syracuse over UVA & Va Tech
Kamron Wilson - 4 Star Fla kid chose Cuse over Nebraska, Miami, Fla St
Jarius Rodgers - Impact Fla kid chose Cuse over UCF, Fla St, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame
Javeion Cooper - Top 500 Fla kid chose Cuse over Nebraska, Colorado, Fla St, UCF, Penn St
Chase Geter - Top 500 VA kid chose Cuse over Duke, UVA, Va Tech, Penn St
Darnell Stokes - Top 600 kid chose Cuse over Va Tech, West Va, Rutgers

Granted, we might have gotten rotten milk in year 2.

It isn't quite Wagyu, yet - but it's a USDA Prime Ribeye

Accoding to some on this board Bob Chesney would have this wrapped up by now!!!!!
Bob would be signing his class and getting ready for a bowl game by now. Or he would have already left for a better job. He would not have led a team to the worst 8 week stretch of football that most Syracuse fans have ever witnessed. Embarrassing the entire program.

Enjoy today, all of this means nothing with regard to how Fran will eventually be judged. Letters of intent and 1 year commitments from HS seniors never paid any coaches bills if the talent cant be properly coached.

It’s your tone. This is the best recruiting class we’ve had on paper in 20+ years with or without Calvin Russel and you’re literally in other recruit threads throwing rocks at a few developmental prospects we took in. As if the entire class is made of of guys with a few offers. There is plenty to be critical about with the season on the field but being wildly negative with no self awareness or filter gets you the responses you’re getting.
It’s not just tone, he is the typical troll who posts 99.99% negative, and often inaccurate and/or misplaced, comments. Then when called out on it says “hey this isn’t a cheerleading Orange colored glasses sight, I am entitled to my opinion”. Like, his opinions are so balanced
