I am sure Clemson, LSU, and South Carolina figured their otherwise healthy, Heisman candidate QBs were a sure thing. All fell WAY short of expectations. There to dis no such thing as a sure thing. Arch Manning is going to be watching the playoffs just like the rest of us. Michigan's uber-expensive QB will be doing the same thing. And so on...

Sure, but Steve showed meh enough in 4 games whereas Arch played the against Utep year prior so it's hard to judge. Steve played against one top team in Tennessee, and two solidish teams in UConn and Clemson, so he was able to show it in games that wasn't just an expected easy win

Would also point out the obvious that we got an excellent season out of McCord and then a strong start from Angeli before he went down. Sellers is obviously a very intriguing NFL prospect and a likely 1st rounder if he comes out this year, but decent chance McCord was the better fit for us that first season anyways and we seem to have bounced back pretty well with Angeli too.

we will bring in capable guys who will compete and be able to push Steve / play if he can’t. Aka the opposite of this year.

But I’d wager a lot of money Steve is our QB in September. And I’m quite happy with that.

Also for what it’s worth Steve has gotten a lot of interest from other schools sniffing around who would gladly pay him to transfer there and be their QB.
