Class of 2026 WR Calvin Russell (FL) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (7/5/25)

You look at his body at 6'5" 195 now after his HS junior season and he could end up 225 after a year or two of strength and conditioning. Also, if he's going to play basketball from January to March, that's going to keep him very busy so less likely to transfer out.

Are you saying he is going to end up a DT?

Don’t you mean Nostradamus? Or Kreskin?
Rasputin.

not that there's anything wrong with that seinfeld GIF by myLAB Box

Obviously this is up to the school, but i assume that since he is playing football and basketball he can probably get a little extra NIL from the Basketball side without causing too much uproar?

1) What an awesome commitment. Kudos to the coaches and staff and supporters. Very exciting.

2) I don't care if he came here because he can play bball too. So what? Give me all the five stars that want to do that. Oh no... we have a great history in both football and basketball? Oh no?!??!!

Please, that's a badge of honor, nothing to be embarrassed about.

3) Who cares what Mich or whatever other schools' fans say online? First, it's online banter, it's always two degrees off from pure insanity. Second, they only talk about you when they have to worry about you.

4) If any of you check out the CFB subreddit, this commitment did numbers on the comments:

because the negativity is exhausting. He's not even playing for 18 months and we have people claiming he won't show up or we won't have a QB. Seriously, take a breath and enjoy some joy in your life.
The people on this thread talking about the QB instead of Russell, need a few days time out from posting so the rest of us can talk about Russell.

I don't think you're technically allowed to discuss/sign NIL deals until you are enrolled and on campus?
Where is that in the new rules. I school is allowed to pay the player now. It’s revenue sharing not nil. How the school allocates is up to them. Nil is independent of the school. It would go through the clearing house. I do not think there is time limits.

Here is my favourite quote from that Reddit thread - from an Iowa fan.

People are taking notice of what Fran is building.

Can Russell take 2 officials to Syracuse, if one of them is as a basketball recruit?
I'm hoping this is one of those, yea you can try it out deals, but then when they see the work required to play one sport he decides to dedicate himself to that. If he wants to make the NFL, which I guarantee he does, off-season workouts and conditioning are essential, especially with a frame with his that can put on a few pounds. I really hope he doesn't play 2 sports and have a feeling when it comes down to it he won't.

I'm really curious if Calvin can get in the ears of a few guys committed elsewhere. This type of impact commitment should hopefully pay dividends beyond just Calvin.

It can maybe snowball into something that can catch fire
