WR Coach Terrence Samuel leaving for Kansas

Like Wildhack said, we need to make great hires. With new coordinators, they should be able to have input on the coaching staff. This allows White and the new OC to hire people who can coach up their systems. I think this is good news. You noticed that Wildhack only spoke about two assistant coaches. I think everyone else is on alert.

I thought this guy was nice hire. Spent some time at Michigan State as their WR coach so he isn’t that bad. Had All Big Ten WR’s 8 times in 8 years.

I think he settled for job security at Kansas over a lame duck coaching season under Babers. Can’t blame him.

Leipold might be back here next year with Samuel so who cares. ;)

But reality is there are a million good WR coaches out there who can recruit.
Was hoping Leipold stayed at buffalo one more year, why take Kansas ! !?! Of all places

Isn't it amazing? Pick a topic on this board and you can find members that want their cake and eat it too.

I never really understood that saying. If I wanted my cake, then of course I would want to eat it too.

I actually googled it, apparently the intent was to read it backwards, you can't eat your cake and have it too.

Touche! I screwed that up.

There’s thousands of people on the board and like 2-3 people that that might apply to in this thread. Hardly the uproars it seems to be receiving.

Thanks for doing the research. I retract my statement.

Best case new OC wants his own guys. Worst case more distraction for Dino to address in the middle of the recruiting home stretch.

Isn’t the coach at Kansas always a lame duck coach?

This is my guess.

It is no secret that the production of our TEs and WRs has been awful. The TEs can’t catch the ball and other than Rhino, they can’t block either. The WRs, with the exception of Jackson, can’t get open or catch the ball. Not sure any of them can block,

Sorry to see Reno go. He seemed like a good guy. Never met Samuel so I can’t comment on him.

Hoping at least some of the new hires have a good record developing players. Hoping at least some of them have a background recruiting in our traditional recruiting areas.
Hoping that at least we get a new hire or two, or a transfer player or two. So far it's all exits and no entrances.

Seems like a solid loss IMO. Two coaches for the WR unit and one of the worst developed groups we have, despite the amount of schollies dedicated to the position. The fact he’s going to Kansas means nobody wanted him.
Lance Leipold isn't stupid.

Here is Dino’s silver platter opportunity to shore up the dang recruiting.

If he left us for a superior program I might be concerned.

But he left for a 2-10 program in the middle of nowhere after being less than impressive here.

Yes he did some good time at MSU but in 1 year he didn’t really recruit for crap for a position that really, really needs it and our WR’s were arguably the weakest unit on the team.

I’m in the camp of hoping this was planned so the new OC can bring his ace WR coach along with him.
