We absolutely need an upgrade in speed out of that position. Second half of the Clemson game gave teams the blueprint on how to defend our offense, and we didn’t have the speed to make them pay for it.
Clemson came out the second half with man coverage and a single high safety…often times walking the second safety into the box to take away the read option run game.
Normally you could make the defense pay with vertical pressure and some drag routes underneath.
As good as Gadsden is, I wouldn’t call him a vertical threat. And he’s the only one of our receivers that can consistently beat the press off the line.
Jackson couldn’t stretch the field and struggled against physical corners. Alford is an enigma.
