If he then hit you on the head with a gun, kicked you multiple times, pointed the gun at your head and threatened to shoot you.
Well if the victim was not a drug dealer he wouldn't have to worry about it...Then the guy refused to sell them weed?...Why is that? Hmmm im gonna go out on a limb here and say the victim robbed someone of that weed he had. Im wondering who he robbed, I bet it was someone tight with these players. They were robbin a dude that robbed them, its pretty simple.
Thats why an amazing plea deal was offered. Even if they were 100% innocent you would have to be an idiot not to accept plea. There is a thing called the Alford plea, plead guilty but you do not admit guilt.
Bring Mr Bridges onto my team all day.
Looks like a first offender too and no issues since.
My goodness... people make mistakes and learn from them.
Some people act like they did this to an innocent elderly woman, in that case id probably agree but that is very far from the case.

Someone who beats a dog, whether it’s an innocent dog or a pitbull trained to fight. Is still someone who beats a dog.

You wrote way too much, it’s got a 1930’s vibe to it. This isn’t complicated.

cool, great analogy.
We disagree, cool.
Its very simple to forgive,
complicated to be ignorant and stubborn.

You'd be cool with someone committing a home invasion at your house? Because they play football?
So a kid makes a mistake (two or three years ago) and his life should be done with no second chance ?

Or are you aware of any further incidents that I dont know about ?

Football is probably his best path to get his life back on track.

I trust Coach Brown to decide if he has the right character to fit on this team.

Jon Hamm gets paid millions to act … Mark Wahlberg too … look into their past endeavors, the fact is people can do something really stupid and turn their lives around but must be given a chance to. Would you let either of them into your house? I bet you would.

Sometimes the competitive spirit for coaches to win takes over and clouds your judgement on what one is willing to tolerate or look past. Also, some coaches think they can keep an individual under control or reform them so to speak. Fran won't be the last to try and do this if they did take a kid of this nature. It may work but the odds are definitely stacked in one direction and I would be willing to bet that it won't end well but it could. Not sure this kid gets greenlighted by those over Fran

Yeah Mark Wahlberg is an absolute scumbag and not enough people know he had a section on his wikipedia titled "racist incidents" for years. I absolutely would not let him into my house.

I don't know much about the Hamm incident but I have no affinity towards him at all.

It's a societal problem that we elevate famous and rich people onto a pedestal and overlook their wrongdoing.

Why is football the best path to get his life back on track?

Losing the privilege of playing football at the college/professional level can be the wake up call someone needs to turn their life around.

People deserve second chances, sure. He shouldn't be in jail for the rest of his life. Central Arkansas gave him that second chance. SU doesn't have to.

Do stupid things and there are prices to pay. Most Convicted felons can’t vote. Nobody ended their life, they just took away certain privileges.

Perhaps the privilege to represent a university as an athlete is something that is no longer an option.

There are other ways to make it through life, like 99.99999999% of our country.

I think it's cause for concern a bit but at the same time I'll continue to trust that Fran knows what he's doing locker room wise until there is evidence that he doesn't.

What did Dirk Diggler do?

Take him, don take him I do not care, but It went through the Justice System, I wouldn't have cared if he got 30 years, but he didn't and If Fran thinks he can come to Syracuse and be a difference maker AND stay out of trouble then I will trust this coaching staff to make the right decision.

In 1986, a then 15-year-old Wahlberg and three friends were charged for chasing three black children and pelting them with rocks while yelling: “Kill the n*****s” until an ambulance driver intervened.

The next day, Wahlberg harrassed another group of mostly black children (around the age of nine or 10) at the beach, gathering other white men to join in racially abusing and throwing rocks at them.

A seemingly unrelated second incident occurred two years later in 1988, when Wahlberg attacked two Vietnamese men while high on the drug PCP.

He called one man, Thanh Lam, a “Vietnam ***ing s***” and knocked him unconscious with a five-foot wooden stick, while punching another man, army veteran Johnny Trinh, in the eye later in the same day. Officers reported that Wahlberg used racist slurs to describe both men.

Fran has more real information on these transfer candidates than anyone else here.
Exactly. And irregardless of whatever anyone says on here, every single one of us will root for him on the field if he does come here so perhaps certain people should stop with the pearl clutching.

I had never heard of Jon Hamm's situation so I had to google it. This thread is so educational.

Do we have the full story on these charges?

Was it a random person or was it a "friends" house?

All of these factors play into it.

I would assume Coach Fran will do his investigating on this and if he is not a good fit move on.

Just because someone visits does not mean we are a take for them.

Exactly. So much wringing of hands over guys who may never be more associated with Syracuse than they took a visit. I see these as Fran getting a read on the guys. If they're redeemable, maybe they're a take. If they aren't, they can follow Will Norman out the door.

I does seem unusual that Fran is bringing in so many questionable character guys this weekend.

I'm not talking about the FSU offensive lineman, who only has underachieved relative to his lofty HS recruiting rankings. Big deal.

And the Georgia OL who got caught speeding doesn't seem like too big of a deal, either. Sure, Georgia has had massive issues which makes his transgression "worse" by association, but in and of itself -- bad judgement, but not a huge deal.

But the two WRs and the other OT? Seems different.

I will not root for him on the field if he comes here. Just as I do not root for Aroldis Chapman with the Red Sox.

You do not have to compromise your morals to support a sports team.

Miss me with the "pearl clutching" and look inwards.

But you'll still root for your alma mater right? That's inconsistent. Miss me with your hypocrisy.

If you ask anyone who Bonnie & Clyde is they can tell you … roughly 5% know who Frank Hamer is. It’s a cultural problem.

Again, not everything is black and white. It's okay to root for my alma mater while being critical about issues that directly relate to it.

The public can influence decisions with appropriate backlash. See: the Boston Bruins signing Mitchell Miller.I'm not conflating the two situations, obviously.

I would be upset about us bringing in Bridges, but clearly there is much more tolerance on this board for home invasions than I expected.
