After hearing Dino, to an extent, blame the bye for the team coming out poorly yesterday, I wanted to see...is Syracuse as bad following a bye as it seems?
Over the past 5 seasons (excluding 2020 which had multiple byes which varied based on team due to COVID), Syracuse has been particularly bad, as compared to the ACC as a whole, in weeks following the bye.
ACC team records following bye weeks (2016-2019, 2021)
The result...yes, Syracuse is the worst team in the ACC (tied) in weeks following the bye over the past 5 full seasons. Now, this is probably somewhat unremarkable as it seems that the records above seem to generally align with the records as a whole, but it still underscores the fact that this coaching staff does not seem to be effectively preparing the team over the course of the bye.
