no free lunchSports at the pro level are very binary: you win or lose.
These guys are losing a lot.
It’s not mean spirited anymore. It’s business.

There's nothing about his production in Years 1-4 that would suggest him being any more than a solid serviceable big man (i.e. a 10 and 8 guy) in Year 5. Obviously his injuries are another story. But his numbers are very consistent with what one would reasonably expect from him as a 5th year senior.I’m asking why we paid for a 10 pts 7 reb center
Maliq was 9.5 and 7 and a better defender
The Burbs. It's a glorious throwback to when they made completely crazy movies. Tom Hanks is still in his comedic era. It's a beautiful 80s time capsule. One of the few Carrie Fisher appearances outside of Star Wars. What movie?
Not retaining Maliq and banking on Chris Bell doing things he’s never done, JJ Starling doing things he’s never done, and Chance Westry doing things he’s never done are going to be exhibit 1 as to why Red’s career is in danger.I’m asking why we paid for a 10 pts 7 reb center

Eh, I mean, we'd be in better shape even if Chris Bell just was doing the thing he's good at.Not retaining Maliq and banking on Chris Bell doing things he’s never done, JJ Starling doing things he’s never done, and Chance Westry doing things he’s never done are going to be exhibit 1 as to why Red’s career is in danger.
We paid him, essentially decommitted, and only came back when we paid him more. Your question is valid - we are limited in NIL but the staff chose Eddie as our big fish to chase. It’s been essentially the same type of player his whole career so it’s not like we were banking on potential. It was on odd player to hitch our wagon too considering how many holes we hadI’m asking why we paid for a 10 pts 7 reb center

My kinda guy.Beat up people when he felt like it.
Are there any recent historical examples of a big man with similar production to Lampkin's after four full years suddenly having a significant leap forward in Year 5? Honestly curious. I can't personally think of any. Lampkin was a marginal role player his first three years and became solid in Year 4. But there's absolutely nothing about his first four years that would suggest him being any more than a moderately above average player. They were expecting more. Physically he’s a mess.
I think the staff has a “fighting the last war” mentality. They saw DJ Burns, and were like, that’s the secret! They went back after two former recruits who did nothing or nothing special at their first schools. It was on odd player to hitch our wagon too considering how many holes we had
He’s basically Mookie Jones. Except Mookie was buried on the roster behind much better players and Bell starts. Thats a problem. Also Mookie played defense (in his own way).Eh, I mean, we'd be in better shape even if Chris Bell just was doing the thing he's good at.

If Red thought otherwise, that's another indictment on his decision making. But I think Lampkin is fairly low on the list of our major roster problems right now.
All I'm saying is, and forgive me if I'm belaboring this, is that there is no planet where Eddie Lampkin is a star or had the potential to be a star. He’s fairly high because by all accounts he’s our highest paid NIL guy and is…..ok
His actual play is fine I guess, discounting his D and I get he’s injured; but his “salary” is a reason we couldn’t go all out for a pg.
Would you rather have Davis and A PG and go small or Lampkin and Carlos.
Again, everyone was spooked by PJ Hall and DJ Burns
DC: if you had any semblance of a work ethic you would be in the Hall of Fame.
To be fair, that is one massive finger. The 21 year old has more maturity in his little finger than DC has in his whole body
And yet another problem with this staff, they expected more from him, Bell, Starling, and everybody else on this roster outside of Moore and Freeman. They were expecting more. Physically he’s a mess.
Charles Barkley’s words, not mine.
You know, if DC wanted to support the legacy of #44, he should be pumping six figures of NIL money every year into recruiting a #44 that meets his standards. Otherwise he should shut up.
That's BS! SU needs to change the meaning of hanging a jersey in the rafter! Essentially they say none of those numbers are "retired" and can be reissued. Retire the number, hang it in the rafter and that number is off limits. Why doesn't that make more sense than what we are currently doing? The retirement of a Jersey would then be reserved for some really special players!!!Cannot do that when you light your earnings on fire.
What'd he do while he played here? I wasn't alive yet. Haha
Beat up people when he felt like it.
