Yikes

This is such rudimentary analysis. You'd think an assistant coach (or head coach) at an ACC level program would be able to provide more a more critical breakdown of the team. [not saying it's not right... it's pretty much Captain Obvious level.]

yeah I would think this is some nameless assistant just shooting the breeze instead of a head coach, However, if its a head coach and a recent quote its got to be someone who is playing SU this week (Keats, Mack or Brownell). I've heard worse but think it could have been phrased better

Cuse!

“Joe Girard hasn’t shot it as well, but he still gets people’s respect ’cause he can make it.”

“Buddy Boeheim has had some bad games, but he has our respect because he can get going.”

These quotes sound like Seth Davis listens to JB’s radio show and used that material as his SU scouting report.

How many bad shooting games do you have to have before the label of good shooter changes?

Enough to make your career 3-point percentage bad. In Buddy’s case, that hasn’t happened yet. In Girard’s case, he’s on the edge but has shown improvement.

You wouldn’t call either a bad shooter.

How can you call a 34% three point shooter(Buddy) one of the best shooters in college basketball and Boehiem's BS about him spacing the floor is just that...BS

He was a 37% 3-point shooter last year on very high volume. That’s upper echelon.

He’s been in a slump this year. He hasn’t forgotten how to shoot.

Buddy wasn’t the number one option last year it was Elijah Hughes. Thus he didn’t get the top wing defender last year.

Also the team wasn’t exactly great last year 18-14.
We brought back an 18-14 team with Hughes being replaced by Griffin.

I don’t think Buddy is an elite shooter.
I think if he had Ennis at PG, Grant and Fair at SF and PF and Christmas/Keita at C we could have won the NC. Because he would have been a role player.

This season the offense treats Buddy like he is Kobe Bryant. He isn’t Kobe thus his numbers are down.

Its not about his shooting ability, it’s about the role he’s playing and the shots he’s taking IMO.

The ones he drilled in the second half yesterday were great looks. We need to create more of them by getting the ball in the paint and kicking out, and he needs to be a bit more selective IMO.

Buddy isn’t getting the most attention from defenses this year either, AG is. Guerrier has garnered more attention than last year, too. I don’t think Buddy’s slump is a product of the defense being played against him.

His Freshman and Sophomore stats suggest he is an elite shooter, depending on your definition of elite. At the least, he’s a high level shooter.
