Your starting to see Fran and his assistants get exposed for a lack

I am all for Nixon and his system. Having a system works well in college this is what we do and this is how we do it. Most teams have this. It worked well last year and worked well to start the season but but but if you have no pivot no other wrinkles and nothing to fall back on because that same system, then you better make sure you get the correct type of QBs in here to run that system and you better have all those QBs so familiar with the system that they can run it at anytime.

It has been 5-6 weeks since the injury, to not have one QB on the roster ready to step in and run the system correctly is the alarming part. You have to be able to teach and practice enough to have the QB run the system properly.

When you are a my system or bust OC then you can't miss on QBs ever. You have to recruit the correct type of QB every year.

If the system were that great you shouldn't need a Top QB to run it. Why don't we have a 2016 like Pitt game to show? Instead we have struggled to get 25 yards in the first half the last 2 games. That is historically bad.

Even when you have a very good QB, they will have a 2-3 off games every year. We had 3 last year.

Last year the best passing D that we played was a home game vs the 56th ranked team. With Angeli the best we played was 72nd (another home game). So we don't know if Nixon's system works vs decent pass Ds.

IMO we should be looking to have an O like our 2012 O. We should be closer to 55% pass instead of well over 60% pass like last season. And when we do run we can't have our RB getting under 4.5 ypc.

4-8 or whatever is going to happen seems clinical to predict in the summer, but hurts awful to experience. And we're getting blown out. Last year is over.

Frans 10 wins are from McCord, Pena, & LeQuint.

Frans 4 wins are from Frans 4 opponents.

Going back to Ricky was the single handed most deflating decision I've seen a coach make.

Not running out the clock to end the half.

Constantly being a doink to reporters.

He needs to get 9 next year to regain the mojo.
Fran is a rookie head coach and is making rookie mistakes, what did we expect? Those mistakes were hidden last year by really good QB play. Now his inexperience is on full display. I hope he grows into the job. Still a better than average recruiter, but that will not last long if his coaching does not improve. We need to see improvement next year, and a quantum leap by the following year or seriously consider a change.
Personnally I have never cared for Wildhack as AD, just lacks in athletics experience. Perhaps the job should be a business manager i.e. Wildhack, and a separate athletic kingpin/decision maker.

If you think about it, who is managing the clock last year? We all know Mccord was our quarterback and certainly could run essentially any and all drill yet who pulled the strings it was coach Fran Brown which honestly amazed me for a first year head coach. Not having a valid signal caller around him has affected him for sure as he overestimated a rookie quarterback and owned up to it. Multiple other things as well certainly with this handling. However if Brent Key, did not have their quarterback he would be called a moron for sure, look at Miami... So many other teams. Even in the SEC the product with current volatility NIL/ Transfer portal is affecting everything and everyone to a great degree, even the elite. However they will be able to compensate. I believe with our schedule next year and elite level recruiting In the portal with a healthy quarterback and viable backup we definitely can have a Georgia Tech like year, and who knows. We however have to be realistic and get behind this team. Changes should happen however I trust goodness, care and future empowerment should count for something And that is what I believe makes this coach a great recruiter as well as so many on the staff. He better compete in relation to coaching improvements on his own which is standard. Otherwise the wheels of this program will continue to spin. It is much easier to get behind a coach who cares who has a vision and an awareness concerning big picture, namely recruiting, northeast ties, player personal and professional development. Dino babers was a tremendously good and likable guy, He could not recruit here to a really good degree however remember what happened to Garrett Schrader last two years didn't we start out 5 and 0, what happened? We have work to do and as SUbear I have always appreciated your input and care.

Fran is going to be fine. He has a solid vision and is a great leader. Without a QB almost every team in college football is done. Fran missed on Collins that is our problem. The D is wearing down and yes we need some coaching changes on that side of the ball. But lets not make a mountain out of this season. The youth on the team is very talented. We have some excellent players coming in. Fran will retain most of our good kids. Steve will be back next year and i believe we are going to do well in the portal. It's always been about next season and i believe that we are still on track. Losing our QB made an extremely difficult schedule impossible.

When you lose, fans begin to question everything. Fran is a second year head coach, so yes, he is still learning. I still think he was an out of the box...Great Hire and the best is yet to come. Really good teams usually have really good quarterbacks and we need to make sure we have talented QB's in the room. Angeli looked awesome the first 4 games, not having a capable backup, is what has killed the season. The miss on Ricky was huge. I believe with the talent upgrade the young players represent and the Portal, we should be able to fix our issues and be much better next year. Le's go Orange!!!

no not a rookie. yes making lottsa mistakes. ok that's cool so long as he is recognizing those mistakes and learning from them. the QB situation he's found himself in calls for some solid , hard HC decisions. he's had 5 games now to figure this out . he's either up to it or he's not. enuf of the wishy-washy wait til next year crap.

This year is shot, so I guess we have to wait for next year, but I understand your frustration.

Angeli looked awesome the first 4 games,...
again i would urge caution here . with Angeli at QB we lost to Tennessee (currently #23) . we then went on to beat UCONN, Colgate and Clemson. just check out their schedules and results. in no way impressive by any measure.
UCONN has WINS over conn , Ball st, Buffalo,FIU, BC ,UAB. LOSSES to SU , delaware and rice.
COLGATE has WINS over Fordham , Cornell , Holy cross , and Merrimack . LOSSES to Monmouth , Villanova , SYR, Richmond , and the HOYAS. Clemson has wins over troy , Unc and BC. mighty tigers ! not.
just as people were too quick to crown Fran Brown the next Knute Rockne after last season 's soft schedule (pay the man !) let's not suggest that steve angeli is bart starr and we'd be undefeated with him under center. the numbers he put up were against very marginal (to be kind) opponents . better than the backups ? sure. good enuf to win those games...can't say. entire team has issues. (except stonehouse).

The best Syracuse football teams over the past 25 years have all had a group of seniors that were all very strong leaders. Talent is obviously is the number one ingredient and I am sure Angeli will be a strong presence next year considering he will have been here a year but not sure who else. This years team has none. Can name 5-6 kids each from the 2012, 2018, 2024 team. The portal makes this very difficult as well.

IN theory it could take another couple years for leadership to really settle in as these big HS classes move up the chain. That said, next year really needs to be a 7-8 win season to continue momentum and prove this year was the anomaly and not last year. The schedule this year wasn't as difficult as many anticipated. ND looks like the only top 15 team we will truly face this year. GT is very good as well. Miami, SMU, Tenn are good teams but not monsters by any means

Steve was improving every game so I am good with him running our team. Just need to run ball better and we won’t need to pass always.

4 days and no one got this reference.

Sad.
Why do you think no one got it?
