Zeed Status?

Do you really care? :)
i ask sincerely...do they have to go to school anymore if they don't want to? I mean the lines blurred so much that i wonder how much education is going on for these guys at this point. I assume it's all zoom (if they want to waste time hustling over to HBC they can do that too).

Fran talks about academics a lot and even mentioned he checks classes himself sometimes.

I'd imagine the school has the ability to do zoom or other options for kids that have to leave for family matters during the semester. It's not just athletes who could have these situations occur.

Yes they still have to go to school. Nothing has changed regarding that and you would have heard about it in the news if it had. There are still eligibility guidelines to play.

It's been mentioned a few times in various articles that Fran and the staff pop in on classes to make sure the players are there and paying attention.

Now in Zeed's case. maybe he was taking classes virtually. Nobody really knows but him and the school and the football staff.

Zeed was at the game and on the sidelines on Saturday.

I was told he is back in the program. I assume he starts practicing this week and might be able to play at Cal.

How does this work academically?
Most/all SU classes for upper class men can be done remotely. It’s a brave new world.

I assume he could have been taking online classes while at home.

“Syracuse University - From undergraduate and graduate degree programs to certificates and executive education, our online programs deliver boundless opportunities. You'll follow the same curriculum as on-campus students and learn from our renowned faculty—with personalized online programs in flexible formats.”

No clue how SU handles this but since I’m an adjunct as a side gig, if students have “hardships” going on there are steps academically that can happen to keep the student enrolled, provide them support, etc. So it’s possible he continued doing work or was able to put certain work on hold to make up when he gets back. Lots of different possibilities. But I have this happen every semester for a variety of reasons.

My Daughter played college Lacrosse. She had an illness and was granted a leave of absence which allowed her to remain in school and she was eligible when she returned. She was able to take the classes that she could online but some of her work (Labs) had to be done when she was back.

I do care. And Coach Fran cares. He is doing more than build a football program. He is trying to build young men who will contribute to society.

Coach Fran and his staff do check on classes and communicate with professors. Recently we had a player who was having trouble keeping his eyes open in class. That player had to do some extra conditioning at 6am. The same player had a second incident of the same nature. That player and his entire position group had to do extra conditioning at 6am. If one man jumps offsides, the entire teams is penalized. This is a team. They are expected to help each other

Hey to each his own. That's Fran's job not mine. I care about winning and it today's landscape that is all 99% of the big P4 programs care about despite how they wax poetic about being a molder of men. It's all a bunch of BS to try and recruit the best kids and win more games. I don't buy any of it not for a second.

Coaches know win or be replaced

I just have to laugh a little that it sounds like there may be some issues with a guy or two not getting enough sleep, and so the proposed solution is to make their bodies work harder earlier in the day.

Axe said he is going to specifically ask Fran about Zeed on the sidelines Saturday and if he's officially back.

These kids need to learn some old school tricks.

That, is what gives him a recruiting edge, otherwise he is a liar, which he is not. True, you have to do both, what would you rather have a total win driven coach who only cares about winning, and actually does but has little or no care for his team, lots of coaches just like that, trust me. If I had to choose I would take the coach who cares over all. Lifetime and massive generational influence. However, as stated to keep your job you must win. This guy reminds me of Coach McPherson. I trust. And lastly it will be much more than just the head coach to make this successful. He needs to however have vision and drive the bus. He seems to be doing this. We are still off, especially run game and depth. Honestly, year 1 amazing. Consider praying for him, he would appreciate that. Many thanks

Another thing, sorry but we actually need NIL money with all seriousness. We do want to win, right? To win here we must present the whole package, wise families I trust will listen and come away Cuse forever, seriously fun place

Wouldn’t be surprised if he plays on Saturday. Fran is not giving away all his secrets.
No chance he plays Saturday unless it's a couple plays to get some rust off.

But we need someone with photoshop skills to do an update of this when he has his breakout game:
