2016 Yankees

$4.3 mill is not a ton of money. Also if he is not producing, why would he return a big name for a trade?
There are a number of teams that might think they can rehabilitate his talent. As for his 4.3million ,this isn't on the paltry side of a year's pay Sure there are more ridiclousannualpayouts for worse performing players. Also it makes him more tradable for that dice roll.

Sure the teams could think they can use him, but if he is not performing then it wont be for a big name

Larry Rothschild needs to live up to his reputation as a terrific pitching coach very soon. Tommy Yankee pitchers are sliding in the wrong direction. He got Evoldi straightened to but Pineda's potential the ace of the staff needs to be realized.BTW Jorge Mateo is playing exceptionally well and his ability might need to be recognized by the big team very soon. How they go about doing this is an interesting thought.

Mateo is high Single A, not gonna happen

There is one thing that Mateo has thats more than ready is his speed and base stealing acumen. But You are correct that maybe this year isn't going to be his time.

Keith Law's Mock Draft:

I wish MLB would allow teams to trade draft picks...Maybe not all the rounds, probably wouldn't be feasible...maybe just the first 5 or so rounds...
I like and totally agree If a high pick team wants to trade their pick for an established player they should have the opportunity to do so. Its a well established path for improvement Some think other wise. It should be allowed as in not interfering with their business style.

One geezer is contributing well Beltran obvious is so far having a good year. The others in the old age assisted living club not so much Tex is still trying to get those bones moving before he goes on the DL Beltran is open to this as well but DHing seems to be the key to his bat. and a degree of health.CÇ tonight needs to provide some confidence that his groin is better and can pit effectively Severino is on the verge of a ticket to Scranton to fix what ails him pitching wise.

He basically is in Scranton, on the DL.

They will most certainly give him 'minor league' starts to 'rehab'

Every young pitcher takes their turn these days.

How Tanaka has avoided it this long is beyond me.

They should just start reconstructing little league elbows.

5 in a row. Only one game under .500... I sure wouldn't have expected that a week ago.

Yanks have been on a crazy run, but I think they've lost a half game in the standings...:bang::bang::bang::bang:

1st 4 game sweep in Oakland since 1979.

I like the post but MLB wants parity and they believe that the draft is the best way to achieve this. Its a false presumption that all teams especially the weakest and poorest have the same quality scouts as the big boys e.g. Yankees, Dodgers, Giants etc.

How about a salary cap?

I would argue that the poorest teams have to have higher quality scouts as that is the only way they can compete against the richer teams...

How about a salary cap?

MLBPA and the higher salary teams won't let that happen...

MLB had more competitive balance than any of the leagues with a salary cap.

Which is why a salary cap won't happen as it can be argued, easily in my opinion, and as you have stated that there is more balance in MLB than the other leagues. Look at the NFL and NBA, the usual suspects are usually in the mix or winning championships most years...

I think the luxury tax system has been pretty successful. The Yankees have paid close to $300,000,000 back to the league since 2003.

Nice. One of the highlights of every season for me. Still vividly remember my father taking me to my first one in 1968. Pepitone and White were in the lineup that day. The Yanks lost, but Mantle hit two home runs, so it was all good.

A salary cap could be open to legal issues on baseball. Its almost impossible to defend in the real world. All they need to do is show what the NBA does and tenth restrictions in baseball game over with out the three relievers the Yanks have in reserve.

I saw a great clip one time on ESPN. George F. Will was in near-tears because he had to admit that his true beloved, baseball, was saved by Socialism in the form of the common draft.
