Big announcement at 1 pm today: Hop to Washington

If JB wants 5 more years that's great. Don't know why anybody would complain about that. Recruits will know jimmy will be here also. No more uncertainty and no more potential negative recruiting from other schools. Best thing would be is to announce a 5 year deal with JB .
If he wants 5 more years he better actually coach for 5 more years.

That means recruiting like he actually cares.

Our recruiting, already in question, is officially in deep deep trouble.

With even more questions about the future now apparent, no top kid is going to want to come here. Is it possible that our spiral has only just begun?
There are a few major recruits that have held off committing to us because JB was leaving.

Is it an elite job? Its a very successful program, but I dont think it can offer the pay and notoriety that some of the other big name/state schools can.
The job is elite, but you bring up a good point about money. We'l have to pay for sure

Think about all the money the school will save off JB. They could use all that money they are saving the next 5 years or so and put it toward the future coaches contract .

This offseason just got a lot more interesting.

GMac just became a lot more important in the short term. That's terrifying, but OK, let's see some magic.

If so, he needs a top end recruiter.

On the bright side, possibly one more solid non-conference game to shore up our resume? ;-)

BTW I'm sure the Huskies considered for a hot second "hey, maybe he'll bounce to Syracuse when that job opens up" and made it a little difficult for that to happen.

I'm sure they considered that. Buyout is probably high in the early years, and diminishes toward the tail end of the contract. Wouldn't make it impossible to leave after year 4 or 5.

Wow...if true...body blow...

I think this could explain a lot of the recruiting issues...

Hop wanting to recruit guys who fit his system starting next year...

Boeheim wanting guys who fit his system because he's not going anywhere..

And I can only imagine Hop's frustration if, after playing the good soldier all these years and now being on the verge of getting the team, gets told that JB isn't going to retire as scheduled.

Tension among players this year?

How about coaching staff tension...

There is no way Hop takes off this year even if JB is retiring as planned next year, is there?

Ouch...

One other possibility...JB still retiring but Wildhack concluded that Hop is not the right guy and is going to conduct a search...

Hopkins will give 'ol Roy a run for his money in upcoming presser relative to tears. ;):)

I can think of a few reasons why some might complain.
Because the uncertainty just got worse. Our best recruiter just left the place he was for 25+ years.

We are officially a disaster. JB's hire to replace him will be huge. Can't just elevate AA and Gmac. We need a proven stud recruiter to help us get through this mess.

The other performing teams in ACC are making us the money for quality coach. Ah the irony of it all

Hopkins hasn't exactly been tearing it up. Uncertainty about JB leaving has slammed the door on many recruits. Give JB a 5 year extension for show purposes, hire a real recruiter and things might actually stabilize.

No way Hopkins ever coaches in Syracuse again unless he's coaching the visiting team.
That ship has sailed.
no way is pretty strong. i'd be ok after some experience to come back to alma mater.

Now all we need to hear is Wildhack announce a 5-year extension.
:vomit:
