Louisville Cards being naughty?

Official NCAA response: Louisville University has informed us that the money used to pay the escorts did not come from the University or any University employee's thus it is out of our wheelhouse.

The more that comes out with this the more I think slick Rick will not survive the fallout, at least not at Lville.

Too much traction and mainstream exposure. The escort was on Good Morning America today - non sports fans are talking about this now

What?!?

This is just funny:

According to ESPN Stats & Information, Louisville is one of nine schools to have at least three classes in the top 10 of the ESPN Basketball Recruiting Rankings between 2010 and 2014. Only Kentucky and North Carolina had more than three ranked classes during that span.

And surprise, surprise, UNC was enrolling the players in paper classes in addition to God knows what else. UK? Kentucky led by a coach with two vacated final fours and a trail of violations is squeaky clean, a paragon of ethics, and the epitome of college basketball (according to BBN and ESPN, a wholly-owned subsidiary).

I think Bilas is right. Of course Pitino and all other big time coaches put systems in place to purposely shield themselves from gaining knowledge. Plausible deniability is key for these.

But they know there is something being done, because if they didn't have that recruiting edge, they would be coaching at a mid-major somewhere cold and snowy like UVM.

There's no chance that the omission of Pitino's name in the statement of support is an oversight.
The written statement undoubtedly was vetted by university lawyers.
Even if Pitino knew nothing about the strippers (which is hard to believe) he's still facing likely ouster.

Calhoun...Boeheim...Pitino.
Three Hall of Fame coaches enveloped by scandal at the end of their tenures.
That's college basketball.
And somehow I'm still a fan.

Don't forget Williams at UNC. He's next and I imagine he knows it. Will K retire before they get him as well?

K's the one guy that's untouchable, nobody else is. If they didn't go after Duke for the Maggette rumors, they never will.

One of the big problems I see for Pitino AND Louisville is this all happened on campus in a dorm. Going to be hard to say you didn’t know and there wasn’t a lack of institutional control. Not like this was an off campus apartment. I imagine the dorm is staffed by RA’s and the doors are locked and there’s sign in/out sheets and maybe camera’s to.

institutional control?

Good point. I forget the article, but when talking about RP knowing / not knowing, one of the reasons they mention that teams push for a team-specific dorm is for more control of things (and recruiting of course). Much easier to know what is going on with players. Makes it tough to say you didn't know what was going on in an expensive building, that you lobbied for, with one of the reasons to prevent potential problems.

Woman had her own daughters doing the deed. That is dedication to the job. You have to love it when family pulls together to get work done. Like when the Amish village comes together to raise a barn.

That is the spirit this country was built on my friend!

recordings of the activities behind the locked dorm room doors have been discovered..

We do not know who was behind this. someone supplied the grad asst with money, $10,000. after he left the Ville someone at the Ville called him up to set up more prostitution. who is the puppet master? LOL, Pitino trying to blame it on the grad asst.

like, N Carolina, this is not lack of institutional control. it is precise institutional control.

Feel terrible for Louisville fans. I think we know that it really sucks to watch something you love get brought down over something stupid like this. Honestly, unless it's Penn State level bad, I really don't give a s*** about some college kids banging prostitutes.

I do, but i don't. I blame the media. They tell us what is bad, and apparently Syracuse was terrible for 8 years. They dug and dug, tried to make it as bad as it sounded, and couldn't find as much as they wanted. It's time for other schools (UNC and Louisville) to feel the pain. Its time for the media to take a giant DUMP on them just like they did to us through the whole Fine saga and then the sanctions announcement(s) last year. I still can't believe there hasn't been a larger investigation into UNC by media types (bob ley/mark schwarz), but that would probably mean political suicide to their careers.

And somewhat ironically, if the players themselves had hired the strippers, this wouldn't be a scandal. It would be a frat party.

True, but it wasn't only players on the team. It was a bunch of potential recruits too.

Ultimately the money is what will bring them down. I actually believe this is a more decent way of doing things. Why pimp out coeds as "hostesses?" The recruits are going to get laid, so why not by professionals?

What a shocker this comes out on the first day of hoops practice. I guess it's better than right before the NCAA tournament, like our salacious news usually drips out.
Dunno Bernie Fine came out right after T'giving and it dripped and splashed all year long.
I think Pitino is toast..Don.t think he can Donald Trump this stuff.

"This is all about money. People will say and do anything for money," Pitino said of the book. (link)

It may be true Ricky, but your old buddy Jim would probably advise against this tactic.
